On May 6, Xiaowo town government staff told Red Star News that it was understood that on May 4, about seven or eight foreign tourists went to the tidal flat along a public land and sea production channel. At around 1 p.m., the tourists entered the villagers' clam fields to dig for razor clams, and after the villagers found out, a verbal altercation broke out between the two sides. During the dispute, the villagers mentioned that they had invested more than 30,000 yuan in the clam field, and the tourists should lose money if they dug up the razor clams.
The staff of the town government and the village committee rushed to the scene to assist in mediation. After more than ten minutes, the two sides no longer argued, the tourists left, and the villagers did not ask for compensation. The staff of the town government said that the so-called "30,000 yuan" was what the villagers said in anger, and they did not really want the tourists to lose so much money, and neither side called the police for this, nor did there be financial compensation.
In the online video, there were staff members of scenic spots near the place of the incident who spoke out about the incident. However, many people told the Red Star News reporter that the incident occurred outside the scenic spot, about 1~2 kilometers away from the scenic spot. The above-mentioned town government staff said that there are obvious signs such as fences on the boundary of the scenic spot. The tourists involved did not enter the beach from the entrance of the scenic spot, nor did they buy tickets for the scenic spot, and the location of the incident was indeed quite far away from the scenic spot.
