This is the 11th time that the national men's team has won the championship. The national women's team also defeated the Indonesian women's team in the previous Uber Cup to win the Uber Cup for the 16th time, making the Chinese team win the double championship in the same Tongyou Cup event again.
Our opponents, the Indonesian national badminton team, are one of the strongest teams in international badminton and have always been strong contenders for the Olympic title. Their men's team has won the Thomas Cup 13 times and has won five consecutive championships between 1994 and 2002.
