The United States once again strongly supports Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly
This year's World Health Assembly is about to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, and the United States has once again stood up and asked the World Health Organization to invite Taiwan to participate as an observer. Secretary Blinken issued another statement calling on the World Health Organization to be open-minded and give Taiwan the opportunity to participate in this event. However, the World Health Organization has always strictly followed the one-China principle and rejected the US appeal, so that Taiwan has lost its observer status at the World Health Assembly for seven consecutive years.
1. The twists and turns of Taiwan's historical participation in the WHA
Taiwan, as a part of China, participated in the World Health Assembly as an observer for eight consecutive years during the administration of Ma Ying-jeou on the basis of accepting the "92 Consensus." However, since the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) came to power, cross-strait relations have taken a sharp turn for the worse because of its refusal to accept the "consensus of '92," and the Taiwan region has also been revoked from its observer status in the World Health Assembly.

Every year, the United States supports Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly, but behind this seeming support is full of hypocrisy. For the DPP authorities, clinging to the thigh of the United States comes at a price. The "support" of the United States is not just empty words, but requires the Taiwan side to constantly "give gifts" to the United States, including the purchase of expensive American weapons, which is an exchange of interests between the interests of the people's livelihood on the island and the political vassals of the United States.
