As a major provincial and municipal key project to start construction in 2023, the reconstruction and expansion project of the Rizhao section of the Shenhai Expressway starts from the Rizhao boundary of Qingdao in the Shanhaitian Tourism Resort in the north and ends at the Lusu boundary of the Xiuzhenhe Bridge in Lanshan District, with a total length of 61.7 kilometers, from the original two-way 4 lanes to two-way 8 lanes, with a design speed of 120 km/h.

Up to now, 23.0% of the roadbed project has been completed, 21.2% of the bridge and culvert project has been completed, and 5.4% of the housing construction project has been completed.
