Jack Jones is a powerful pushback against "people with miserable lives" who misuse social media

On May 5, 2024, according to Hegel, Jack Jones said that the abuse of social media prompted him to reach the final of the World Snooker Championship and attacked the "people who have a sad life" who criticized him.

The world number 44 made a surprise run to the semi-finals of this year's World Championships, where he made it through the qualifying rounds before beating Anda Zhang, Si Jiahui and Judd Trump to reach the single table.

In a rare tweet after the second-round win over Si Jiahui, he pointed out that despite the huge win at Sheffield, he had been hit hard online and no one was optimistic that he would advance.

After beating Trump in the quarterfinals, the 30-year-old said he tried to avoid getting into snooker trouble online, but failed to do so in this tournament.

However, he embraced the positives, using criticism to motivate him, and it seemed to work.

"I just read politics and other stuff on Twitter, but I try to stay away from snooker," Jones said. I don't follow any snooker players, but for whatever reason, things about snooker always come up on my page. ”

I saw one review that wasn't so good, and I saw some other comments as well. I know every player sees these comments and I'm not that annoyed. ”

"It's those who live miserable lives (keyboard warriors). Sitting in the bedroom scribbling things on social media, criticizing or denigrating others. There is usually no such thing as evidence. ”

"It's kind of motivating to me. I love seeing things like this, and I love seeing good things. I'm not the first person to see these comments, every player sees others pointing fingers at them. ”

Jones is one of the more consistent players on the tour, but he says anyone who criticises him for playing slow is outrageously ridiculous because he has struggled to pick up the pace in recent years.

"I guess because I used to hit the ball slowly and people like to take advantage of this shortcoming and attack me, but if they were friendly enough to watch my game, I don't think they would come to that conclusion," he said. ”

"People like to say I'm slow and that's what that's why. I watch other players play and some of the top players play at the same time as me, but I'm not always like that, I probably do more than the others. But I'm not a slow player. ”

"In training, I'm a very fast player, but as long as I have confidence, I think I'll be a faster player. ”

Jones had already eliminated Bingham with a score of 17-12, and he reached the final of the World Championship for the first time in his career, against Kyren Wilson, the first man of the post-90s.
