The 2024 9th Xi'an International Children's Theatre Exhibition is hosted by the Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Xi'an Qujiang New Area Management Committee, and the Xi'an Performing Arts Group, and undertaken by the Xi'an Children's Art Theater. After eight sessions, the Xi'an International Children's Drama Exhibition has built an exchange platform for the display of outstanding drama achievements at home and abroad, and has played a great role in promoting the prosperity and development of children's drama across the country. The theme of this year's drama exhibition is "Fairy Tale Xi'an", which shows the high-spirited and uplifting appearance of children in the new era and the innocent and childlike spiritual world through excellent children's drama works.
The children's drama "Today I am the Flag Raiser" is adapted from the novel of the same name by Huang Beijia, the winner of the national "Five One Project" award, and is jointly created and performed by Jiangyin Xiqu Pingtan Art Inheritance Center, Jiangyin Public Culture and Art Development Center, and Jiangyin Garden Experimental Primary School”。
The protagonist of the play, Xiao Xiao, was born in a military family, he worships heroes, yearns for the national flag, and has outstanding morality. He has always had a dream in his heart, that is, to be a flag-raiser at school, although this wish can not be realized for various reasons, but he did not give up his efforts, and finally when he was about to graduate from primary school, he raised the bright five-star red flag with his own hands.
The play focuses on children's characters, focusing on the protagonist Xiao Xiao, who insists on chasing his dreams, as well as the reasonable Ma Yu, the honest and righteous Bao Hao, the lively and straightforward Zhu Xiaona, and the calm and scholarly Lin Qianqian and other characters, these characters have different images and distinct and full personalities. The whole play lasts nearly 90 minutes, with vivid plots, plot twists and turns, and vivid characters, which are full of the innocence, childlike fun and masculinity of children in the new era, and have a strong artistic appeal.
