On April 30, Weifang sweet potato seedlings and high-quality and efficient cultivation technology on-site observation meeting was held in Weicheng District, and more than 60 people from various counties and cities participated in the sweet potato planting technology promotion business and large sweet potato planters.
At the meeting, Shi Chunyu, chief expert of Shandong potato industry system and professor of the College of Agriculture of Shandong Agricultural University, gave a special lecture on the key technologies of sweet potato seedling raising and high-yield and high-quality cultivation.
In recent years, Weicheng District has adhered to the close combination of "scientific research, promotion and production" of sweet potato, and vigorously promoted the organic connection of "technology promotion, socialized service and small farmers", relying on Weifang Mifeng Potato Industry Co., Ltd., established a high-quality sweet potato seedling base of 20 acres and a standardized cultivation demonstration base of 80 acres, introduced 24 new sweet potato varieties such as Taizi No. 1, honey jar and Marsali, and tested transverse cuttings, mechanical operations, 12 new sweet potato cultivation technologies, such as the integration of water and fertilizer with dropper, have continuously improved varieties and cultivation techniques, and promoted the synergistic improvement of sweet potato yield and quality. Through innovation and improvement of the modern cultivation and management technology model of sweet potato, we actively guide farmers to develop high-quality fresh sweet potato production, and initially realize the regional layout, standardized production, large-scale planting and industrialized operation of sweet potato, which has become a new quality productivity that boosts agricultural development, farmers' income increase and rural revitalization.
In the next step, Weicheng District will take this opportunity to fully tap the land resources on the slopes suitable for planting sweet potatoes such as Mingzong Mountain and Lebu Mountain, expand the cultivation area of high-quality sweet potatoes, promote the application of new sweet potato planting technologies, and actively contribute to ensuring the safety of food production.
