ABB Computing Power + Energy Collaborative Optimization Facilitates the Green and Low-Carbon Transformation of Data Centers

The Yangtze River Delta is one of the regions with the most active economic development, the highest degree of openness, and the strongest innovation capacity in China, with its total regional economic output exceeding the 30 trillion yuan mark in 20231. The construction of computing infrastructure is of great significance to support regional economic development, and it is necessary to actively undertake the real-time computing power needs of various metropolitan areas in the Yangtze River Delta, focusing on meeting the needs of high-frequency and real-time interactive thermal data services such as video calls, industrial Internet, financial securities, Internet of Vehicles, disaster early warning, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence inference.

The 2024 Yangtze River Delta Computing Power Infrastructure Construction Summit Forum was successfully held in Shanghai on April 26. With the theme of "Computing Power Leading, Industrial Innovation", this forum exchanged and discussed the paths and methods of relying on computing power networks and digital technologies to give full play to the potential of data elements and realize the implementation of functional scenarios such as data information calculation, storage, transmission, acceleration, display, and application. As a leading enterprise in the field of electrification, ABB was invited to participate in the forum, and Jiang Ying, head of digital business of ABB Electric China, delivered a keynote speech - "Computing Power + Energy Collaborative Optimization Helps the Green and Low-carbon Transformation of Data Centers".

Jiang Ying pointed out that the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of data centers requires deep synergy between computing power and energy, digging deep into the energy consumption space based on the load characteristics of the data center, and determining the optimal diesel power input capacity and load through the optimization mechanism algorithm to achieve accurate matching, so as to achieve the dynamic balance of source and load, and further benefit and share to optimize asset allocation. At the same time, the computing power load and cooling system are jointly optimized to further improve the energy efficiency of the data center, establish the flexible adjustment ability of the data center load, and explore the practice path of "production and consumption" data center.

ABB's speech received wide attention and praise from the participating experts and enterprises. Experts at the meeting said that ABB's innovative technologies and solutions in the field of electrification have provided strong support for the construction of computing infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region, and have important reference significance for promoting the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of data centers.

In the field of data centers, ABB has always been customer-centric and provides flexible "one-stop" solutions: it can not only provide smart energy solutions with diesel-power synergy-source-load interaction, complete pre-assembled power distribution solutions, but also sell a variety of medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgears in sets, and even cooperate with domestic OEMs to develop customized DC solutions by providing electrical components.

Thanks to ABB's complete product chain from grid access to terminal links, as well as targeted software application development and equipment support for customers, ABB's data center solutions have been adopted by large-scale data centers and computing infrastructure in various industries in China, and are the preferred partner of many enterprises.

The 2024 Yangtze River Delta Computing Infrastructure Construction Forum is guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, and co-sponsored by the Shanghai Economic and Information Development Research Center and the Shanghai Computing Network Association.
