Huawei regained the first place in the market, and HarmonyOS 4.2 was fully open beta

As the time comes to the end of April, major analysts have recently released smartphone shipment data for the first quarter of 2024.

A few days ago, the International Data Corporation (IDC) released the China mobile phone market tracking report for the first quarter of 2024.

According to the report, Honor took the first place with a market share of 17.1%, Huawei ranked second with 17.0%, and OPPO, Apple, and vivo ranked third to fifth, respectively.

Soon after, Canalys released a report, but with a different data than IDC.

According to the report given by Canalys, in the first quarter of 2024, Huawei will regain the first place in the smartphone market in Chinese mainland with a share of 17%.

OPPO, Honor, vivo, and Apple ranked second to fifth, respectively.

As for why the results given by the two institutions are not the same, it is likely that there is a slight difference in statistical caliber.

Because it can be seen from the report that the difference between the share of the first and fifth places is very small, no more than 2% overall, and no one can take the lead.

This also shows that the competition in the domestic mobile phone market is very fierce, and subtle data differences can lead to ranking changes.

But then again, data from IDC and Canalys both show that among the five mobile phone manufacturers, only Huawei has a disjointed growth rate.

Therefore, it is foreseeable that there will be Huawei Pura 70 in the second quarter and Huawei Mate 70 in the third quarter.

In the next two quarters, Huawei's market share is very likely to break off other mobile phone manufacturers and widen the gap.

In addition to the news that Huawei has regained the first place in the mobile phone market share, the HarmonyOS system has also made new moves recently.

As a transitional version to switch to pure-blooded HarmonyOS, the HarmonyOS 4.2 version has recently started full public beta, covering 22 devices in the first batch.

It includes 11 models, including the Huawei Mate 60 series, Pocket 2, Mate X5, MatePad Pro series, and more.

The remaining 11 devices include three Huawei watches, Huawei smart door lock Pro, and seven Huawei smart screens.

The upgrade method is also very simple, because it is the official version of the push, open the mobile phone "Settings" - "System and Updates" - "Software Update" - "Check for Updates" to upgrade.

In addition, you can also upgrade by going to "My Huawei Apps" and going to "Home" - "Upgrade Trial".

In addition to the above 22 models, Huawei also announced the next upgrade plan for HarmonyOS 4.2.

Officially, starting from mid-May, Huawei Mate 50 series, Mate X3, P60 series, and Nova 12 series will all be officially pushed.

Of course, Huawei watches, headphones, smart screens, as well as smart door locks, smart glasses, routers and other devices are also on the upgrade list.

Unfortunately, older models like the Huawei P40, Mate 30, and Mate 40 series don't appear in the upgrade list.

If nothing else, these models will also receive the HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade next, but it may be a little later.

So what changes does HarmonyOS 4.2 bring?

First of all, in terms of performance, this update mainly optimizes the visual animations to make the system run more smoothly.

In addition, the Ark engine has been further optimized, which makes the response speed and safety performance of the system improved.

In terms of features, HarmonyOS 4.2 introduces a WLAN network automatic connection switch and a Bluetooth device recording switch.

Not only that, but the ability to block in-app "shake" ad redirects has also been added.

In addition, for the Mate 60 series, the new system also optimizes the speed of Tiantong satellite connection.
