On April 29, the third round of the ATP1000 Madrid Masters ended eight matches, and the post-00 genius Rune did not perform well, losing 1-2 to Gricosp and missing the round of 16. Second seed Alcaraz came in strong form and easily advanced 2-0.

Rune is ranked 4th in the world and is one of the big three of the men's post-00s. However, Alcaraz and Sinner have both won Grand Slam titles, but Rune has not yet broken through, falling behind the other two.
Rune's opponent in the third round is world No. 25 Gricosp, who was unanimously favored to win before the match, and his odds were 1.4 against his opponent 3.0. Rune played a very, very tough match, being broken after 4-4 in the first set and losing the first set 4-6. In the second set, Rune returned a 4-4 and then broke to equalize the score at 6-4. In the deciding set, Rune started 0-3 and finally lost 3-6, losing 1-2 and missing the round of 16.
Alcaraz is currently ranked No. 3 in the world and is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and leads the bottom half of the bracket. Alcaraz's third-round opponent was world number 67 Virgil. There was a huge gap in strength between the two sides, and Alcaraz was in great form, breaking serve four times and finally easily advancing to the round of 16 with two 6-3 attempts.
World No. 5 Zverev's third-round opponent was Shapovalov, who narrowly won both sets, winning 6-4, 7-5 and advancing smoothly. Rublev is ranked No. 8 in the world and will face Davidovich in the third round. Rublev performed normally, winning 7-6, 6-4 to advance. Struff was the strongest, beating 13th seed Amber 7-5, 6-4.
Elsewhere, Fritz, who is not good on clay, surprised by beating clay sensation Báez 2-0 to advance to the round of 16. Fernando Cerundolo continued his good form with a 2-1 win over American Paul, which also gave the United States and Argentina two big games, with each side winning one.
In the 1/8 finals, Hurkacz vs Fritz, F. Cerundolo vs Zverev, Rublev vs Grikosp, Struff vs Alcaraz. Alcaraz's victory is not in doubt, and the other three matches are still likely to be upset.
