For the first time, the Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary School Students was held in China, and this year's competition was jointly organized by Moscow State University, the Melnichenko Foundation and the Northern Moscow University in Shenzhen. The competition was held in Shenbei Mozambique, which not only provided an opportunity for Shenbei Mozambique to show its strength in running a school, but also had far-reaching significance for promoting the construction of an international exchange platform. It is worth mentioning that among the 26 countries, Cuba, Sri Lanka and Kenya are participating for the first time.

In addition, the event also selected 1 contestant, Ma Linrui from China won the Best Theory Award, 1 contestant, Hebwen from China won the Best Practice Award, and 3 contestants from China and Russia won the first, second and third prizes of the "Lu Ning Award", among them, Zhao Zeyu, a student from Shenzhen High School, won the second prize, and Wang Yunkai, a student from the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress, won the first prize.

In an interview, Zhao Zeyu said that winning the award was expected, but winning the second prize of the Lu Ning Award was indeed unexpected. Last year, Zhao Zeyu won the ninth place in the 37th Chinese Chemistry Olympiad and was selected for the national training team. At present, he has been sent to Peking University.
