Driven by the mechanism of the Hong Kong/Shanghai Co-operation Conference, the areas of co-operation between the two places have been continuously expanded. In recent years, both cities have fully embraced the digital economy and pursued digital transformation, and data, as a new factor of production, has become the key to driving innovation and transformation, and Shanghai-Hong Kong linkage has entered a new stage of data cooperation.
At the EV-AI Zhixing Port in Jiading, Shanghai, a demonstration of imported new energy vehicles attracted many fans, and the vehicle and battery-related data contained in this car were the focus of everyone's attention. The organizer of this event is Shanghai New Energy Vehicle Public Data Collection and Monitoring Research Center, referred to as EV DATA, as the first local platform for new energy vehicle data collection in China, with massive data from multiple dimensions such as new energy vehicle travel and charging.
For platform companies, data exchange can be dynamic, especially with overseas counterparts. Not long ago, the International Innovation and Technology Fair held in Hong Kong brought such a good opportunity. EV DATA was invited to participate in the exhibition for the first time as the data supporter of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Open Data Competition.
Qiao Li, director of the Shanghai New Energy Vehicle Public Data Collection and Monitoring Research Center, told reporters that they will collect the pain points and difficulties of enterprises and governments in the process of industry supervision. Because of the exploration of the data competition, Shanghai and Hong Kong have a good opportunity for cooperation.
Co-organised by the HKSAR Government and the HKTDC, the Hong Kong International Innovation and Technology Fair (HKITECH) is in its second year this year, with the focus of cooperation between Hong Kong and Shanghai on the emerging field of data since the first edition. Shanghai Luhang Technology Co., Ltd. has been committed to the digital transformation of civil aviation intelligent transportation and civil aviation safety, and the company's founder Liu Jun said that he would like to take advantage of this exhibition to actively explore the development of intelligent transportation and smart civil aviation business with some local partners in Hong Kong, including the Airport Authority.
According to Cha Pin-jue, a board member of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong, as a "super-connector", needs to understand overseas demand and then connect demand with supply, which also includes an understanding of overseas laws and compliance, which is important for the cross-border flow of data.
Exchanges and cooperation are based on mutual benefit and win-win results, and the mainland's booming data market and application scenarios have also attracted the attention of Hong Kong enterprises. The three-year-old Shanghai Data Exchange has more than 1,700 data products listed for trading, and the international zone launched in April last year provides the possibility for Hong Kong enterprises to enter the market by exploring a new mechanism for cross-border data flow.
Wei Zhilin, deputy general manager of the Shanghai Data Exchange, said that at present, four Hong Kong companies are actively organizing relevant data products to be listed on the Shanghai Data Exchange, covering areas such as environmental engineering and real estate data application scenarios.
At present, the Shanghai Data Exchange is also considering tokenizing data assets, that is, trading like stocks, and Hong Kong is also striving to build a global virtual asset management center.
Lu Jian, chief representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in East China and Central China, said that at present, digital merchants in Hong Kong, Singapore and other places have carried out negotiations and cooperation with the Shanghai Data Exchange, hoping to jointly promote the cross-border flow of data and cross-border transactions of data assets in the future.
Lu Yong, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Digital Business Association, expects that in the future, the two sides can take advantage of the location advantages of Hong Kong and Shanghai Lingang to find ways to cross-border data flow in more application scenarios, including convenient services, mutual recognition of corporate identities, etc., so as to better empower the government services of the digital government.
