On April 25, in the mountain farm around Shangli Village, Dalang Town, Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, villagers, members of the village-based work team, and cadres of the two village committees were planting corals for grass management, and the scene was busy.
"The digging pit is 30 centimeters deep, spread a layer of crushed soil, the row spacing is about 30 centimeters, if you pour the right amount of water after planting on a sunny day, you will have income every year after planting a living plant. Zhang Dong, the first secretary of the village, explained the grass coral planting management and protection technology to everyone while working, and guided the cadres and the masses to plant grass coral to ensure the survival rate of planting.
"According to the calculation of 1,000 plants per mu, 7,000 grass and coral seedlings can be planted on more than 7 acres of woodland. In the past few days, the villager Yang Meinu and his family, like other villagers, have been busy planting grass and coral seedlings under their own woodland. She wanted to take advantage of the good weather now, and with the help of the team members stationed in the village and the cadres of the two village committees, the whole family could plant the forest land in three days.
Shangli Village has the tradition of planting star anise, camellia, fir and bamboo forests, and there are more than 10,000 acres of star anise and fir woodlands and more than 1,200 acres of camellia bamboo woodlands. At the beginning of this year, Shangli Village held an industrial special meeting and adopted the proposal of the team members stationed in the village to the village committee for interplanting under the forest. While doing a good job of mobilizing the masses at home, the cadres of the two village committees and the team members stationed in the village invited the leaders of the town and the village to conduct field research, and finally determined the project of interplanting grass corals and yellow essence under the forest. After the implementation of the project plan, the village cadres and team members stationed in the village organized the villagers to weed and prepare the land in a timely manner, and while raising funds for ordering seedlings, they went to the nurseries in Liucheng, Luzhai and other places to inspect and negotiate the price of seedlings. By adopting the "cooperative+" business model, we provide support such as seedling transportation, technical guidance, fertilization management and protection for the villagers of the understory interplanting grass and coral project, and solve the seedling and technical problems encountered by the villagers.
"I planted 7,000 grass corals in the octagonal field, each seedling was 0.35 yuan, a total of 2,450 yuan, and there were also industrial incentives and subsidies, which was quite cost-effective. Li Shangren, a poverty alleviation household, said. Yang Mingchun, a village cadre, said: "This year, 38 households in the village planted grass corals, all of which were high-quality seedlings transported by the village, and a total of more than 176,000 grass coral seedlings were transported. "The land in the village is limited, and grass and coral can be planted in woodlands such as star anise, camellia, fir and bamboo hills, which can achieve two harvests in one land.
It is reported that Shangli Village will start to plant grass corals under the forest in 2023, and the planting area has developed more than 300 acres. In 2024, the village plans to interplant 30 acres of Polygonatum under the forest as a collective economic income. In April, as far as the eye can see in Shangli Village, the grass and corals planted under the forest on the hillsides and valleys are verdant, which will soon become another new way for farmers to increase their income.
