First, the problem of wiping the net and rubbing the edge
It's okay to wipe the net, but it's a difficult job to wipe the edges.
The rules of table tennis competition stipulate that the ball is valid if it is rubbed to the top, and it is considered to be rubbed on the side, and the ball is invalid when it is rubbed to the side. In addition to judging with the naked eye, the main thing is to look at the arc after the ball is rubbed.
If the ball grabs to the side, there will be no obvious parabola, but falls directly, which is not counted as an effective edge and no points are scored; if the ball is rubbed to the upper edge, there will be an obvious parabola, which is counted as a score of rubbing the edge.
However, in real games, the speed of table tennis is extremely fast, so it is inevitable that the naked eye will make mistakes in judgment, which is very normal. If there is a controversial decision, it is very unfair to the party who made the mistake.
For example, in the World Cup women's singles final, whether Sun Yingsha's shot was wiped off the edge has caused a huge controversy recently. If you have the Hawkeye technique, the players have the number of challenges, the coaches have the number of challenges, I think it can completely solve this problem.
In fact, the Hawkeye technique has long been very mature, I remember more than 20 years ago when I was a child watching tennis matches, Federer Nadal was using the Hawkeye to challenge. Therefore, the eagle eye technology in table tennis broadcasting should have matured and been applied on a large scale. Fortunately, the Hawkeye technique will soon return to table tennis.
My personal opinion is that you can give the on-the-spot coach a maximum of 2 opportunities to challenge, each athlete a maximum of 3 opportunities to challenge, or 1 opportunity to challenge per game, just control it within a reasonable range, if there are too many times, the game will become sparse and not very good, 5 opportunities are already very much.
Second, the problem of serving
In the women's singles final of the 2012 London Olympics, Ding Ning was sentenced to serve multiple times in a row and collapsed to tears. Although in the end, most people think that this is a misjudgment, but to be precise, it is difficult to argue with the naked eye whether the toss is enough, after all, she is not a high toss.
Wang Chuqin's serve is also controversial...... The common service problems are nothing more than insufficient throwing height, diagonal throwing force, and serving in the sideline...... Therefore, the eagle eye technique in table tennis also needs to have the ability to identify serving problems.
