The sons and daughters of Director Dong Dengren are eager to meet the author and the editor-in-chief of the official account of "Xincheng Literature".
On April 25, 2024, under the recommendation of Ms. Zhong Sumei, President of Suqian Prose Association and Chairman of Minghe Rehabilitation Hospital, Mr. Dong Dengren's sons and daughters met with the author and editor Bao Yilong.
Everyone hit it off at first sight, talked eloquently, and the topic traced the footsteps of the highly decorated Dong Dengren, allowing us to learn about many of his little-known deeds.
Mr. Dong Daoming, Dong Dengren's son, said that his father, Dong Dengren, was a native of Fangshan in the East China Sea, born in 1924 in a poor peasant family.
In 1939, 14-year-old Dong Dengren resolutely joined the revolution and entered the East China Sea Brigade under the leadership of the party.
The Donghai Brigade is an anti-Japanese armed force under the leadership of the Tongyang County Government, and its combat footprints have traveled all over Sihong, Siyang, Shuyang, Fangshan, Anfeng Mountain, Yinping, Gaoliu and other places in northern Jiangsu south of the Longhai Railway.
Dong Dengren was witty, brave and intelligent, and in a battle to rescue his comrades from being surrounded by the enemy, he aimed at the enemy officer and killed him with one shot. The enemy lost command and became a mess, scattered as birds and beasts. In this battle, Dong Dengren also captured a shell gun of the enemy officer, so he was commended by the brigade leader.

Dong Dengren accompanied the East China Sea Brigade to fight in the south and the north, and participated in dozens of large and small battles. He was both wise and brave, born and died, bravely killed the enemy, and went deep into the tiger's den many times.
In February 1940, Wei Yousan, the head of the Kuomintang in Sihong County, often attacked the New Fourth Army and had a lot of guns and ammunition. In order to uproot the enemy tumor entrenched in Huainan as soon as possible, the superiors decided to eliminate Wei Yousan. After Dong Dengren learned about it, he took the initiative to ask for help, and with the approval of the chief Wei Guoqing, he sent Dong Dengren to reconnoiter in disguise and enter the enemy's lair alone.
In the enemy camp, he was calm and witty, looking for an opportunity, and when he saw the guards around Wei Yousan leaving, the enemy's defense was lax, and Dong Dengren decisively shot Wei Yousan to death. Take advantage of the enemy's chaotic state to get out of the enemy camp safely.
"Heaven is not afraid of the earth, but you are afraid of Dong Dengren to fight the world!" The folk legend that circulates in northern Jiangsu shows that the lone hero Dong Dengren is haunted and makes the enemy famous and fearful.
In October 1944, during a reconnaissance into the enemy camp, Dong Dengren broke into the enemy camp alone, took advantage of the enemy's unpreparedness, and took away a jujube red horse from the enemy officer.

There were many Kuomintang documents and military maps on their backs, which provided our army with quite important information.
In his more than 10 years of military career, Dong Dengren was wounded seven times, and there was still a warhead in his body that had not been removed.
Mr. Dong Daoming took out his father's revolutionary disabled soldier certificate and said that until his father's death in 2000, this warhead accompanied him for more than 50 years.
I can see from the certificate that the disability column is clearly recorded: waist and lung injury, hard of hearing in both ears, binocular vision loss, vision of 0.1 in the right eye, and indistinct index in the left eye.
