Jiang Zefei, vice chairman and secretary general of CSCO and professor of the PLA General Hospital, served as the host of the press conference. Professor Xu Ruihua, Chairman of CSCO, said in his speech that it has been 9 years since the first edition of the CSCO Guidelines came out. Thanks to the unremitting efforts of all experts, CSCO has published more than 150 guides so far, with a total circulation of more than 2.25 million times. He pointed out that scientific and normative nature are the distinctive features of CSCO guidelines, and the members of the guideline writing committee have always been committed to ensuring the quality and authority of each guide in an objective, scientific and impartial manner. For this reason, CSCO guidelines are trusted by clinicians and have become an indispensable and valuable resource in their daily work.
Professor Xu Ruihua announced that this year, CSCO will release 32 guidelines, including 1 first-time published "Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Liver Injury Associated with Oncology Drugs" and 31 updated guidelines. These new guidelines will help medical professionals gain a deeper understanding of the mechanism of action of drugs and the management of adverse effects. In the future, CSCO will continue to devote itself to formulating clinical guidelines with Chinese characteristics and keeping up with international research progress, so as to support the standardization and high-quality development of clinical organizations in mainland China. Academician Yu Jinming said in his speech that in April, more than 160 experts and scholars who participated in the compilation of the CSCO guide gathered together to form a knowledgeable and experienced team of speakers. In the 23 professional sessions of the guideline, they will deeply analyze the key points of the newly released guidelines, covering respiratory, digestive, breast, neurological, urinary, gynecology, hematology and other oncology fields, jointly focus on hot issues of tumors, share the key points of CSCO guideline updates, and discuss cutting-edge treatment methods and the prevention and treatment of complications, so as to present an academic feast in the field of oncology in China for delegates from all over the world.

The CSCO guidelines are developed in strict accordance with the latest research results and embody the core principles of evidence-based medicine. Compared with the guidelines issued by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the CSCO guidelines are more focused on academics and rapid updates.
As an important supplement to the national guidelines, the CSCO guidelines play an indispensable role in clinical practice, and their drafting has been highly valued by successive councils. While many factors have been taken into account in the development of guidelines, some details may not be completely granular when it comes to specific applications due to the uniqueness of each case. Therefore, clinicians need to personalize treatment based on the patient's specific situation while following the guidelines. This requires doctors to conduct in-depth analysis and precise treatment based on the application of guidelines, specific problems for different patients and different stages of treatment. In general, clinicians should be proficient in the application of CSCO guidelines and combine with the actual situation to achieve precise treatment for patients.
What are the Foundation's plans to promote and popularize the CSCO Guidelines?

In order to do a good job in the publicity and promotion of the CSCO guidelines, and deepen the understanding and application of the CSCO guidelines by medical professionals, the CSCO Foundation plans to hold 15~20 study classes nationwide this year, which will be divided into comprehensive study classes and special study classes, and the special study classes will be aimed at different professional fields such as liver cancer and lung cancer to meet different publicity and learning needs. In addition, 10 county-level hospitals will be selected as the support objects, and experts will be arranged to go to the county-level hospitals four times a year to give CSCO guidelines to publicize, standardize publicity, MD (multidisciplinary) discussions, as well as ward rounds and free clinic activities. It is expected that through two years of continuous service and training, the standardization of medical services in county-level hospitals will be promoted and the quality and level of primary medical services will be improved.
At the same time, we look forward to the media friends actively participating in the publicity and promotion of the CSCO Guidelines, jointly enhancing the public's understanding of the CSCO Guidelines and the primary medical service improvement plan, promoting the standardization of medical services in China's grassroots and poverty-stricken areas, and bringing substantial help to the majority of grassroots patients. How to reflect the contribution of Chinese clinical research in the compilation of CSCO guidelines?

Chinese cancer patients have unique clinical characteristics, which are significantly different from those in Europe and the United States. For example, the EGFR mutation rate of lung cancer in the Asian population is significantly higher than that in the European and American populations, and the predominantly acral and mucosal types of melanoma patients in China (75%), which reflect the specificity of the Chinese population in terms of tumor types.
These differences determine the different paths of domestic clinical research and international research. Based on these characteristics, Chinese scholars have also carried out a series of innovative clinical studies and obtained high-level evidence-based medical evidence. The research results obtained by Chinese scholars have also been incorporated into the CSCO guidelines in a timely manner, providing more specific and targeted guidance for front-line clinicians.
How is the management of cancer treatment safety reflected in the CSCO guidelines?

The core value of drugs is reflected in their effectiveness and safety. Effectiveness refers to the fact that the drug must have a therapeutic effect, while safety involves the management of the side effects of the drug. The global oncology discipline is rapidly evolving, with more than 4,200 anti-tumor and adjuvant therapy drugs, and about 15% of new drugs are launched each year. Safety has also been the focus of scrutiny by drug regulatory agencies, such as China's Food and Drug Administration, the United States, and Europe.
For a long time, the CSCO guidelines have also attached great importance to the safety of drugs, and the CSCO Drug Application Safety Committee has been established to focus on the monitoring and guidance of drug side effects across the country. At present, the CSCO guidelines have included guidelines for the use of drugs for symptoms such as thrombosis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, vomiting, etc., and new guidelines for the treatment of liver diseases have been added to deal with liver damage that may be caused by drugs.
Cell-based drugs and immuno-oncology therapies, such as PD-1/PD-L1 immunosuppressants, have also been highlighted as emerging treatments. At present, China has approved seven related drugs, which is close to the number of nine drugs approved in the United States, reflecting strict considerations for safety in this area.
Safety is an important part of cancer treatment. Only by ensuring the safety of medication can patients achieve longer survival and a higher quality of life. Cancer treatment is not only the responsibility of doctors, but also requires the cooperation of family members and patients. CSCO also called on the media and the public to raise awareness of the safety of cancer treatment and help popularize the correct concept of treatment.
In the face of the annual update and application of the guidelines, what should all sectors of the community pay attention to in the process of promotion, and how to deal with the problem of piracy?

The CSCO guidelines are carefully compiled by a number of experts to provide authoritative and accurate clinical guidance for physicians. We understand the learning needs of doctors who use copycat CSCO guidelines and encourage them to use genuine materials whenever possible. To ensure that doctors have access to the original guidelines as quickly as possible, we are working to speed up the publication process and reduce the demand for piracy by distributing them free of charge so that the legitimate guidelines reach doctors. At the same time, CSCO is working with the People's Medical Publishing House to launch a free electronic version to meet the needs of doctors with a wider range of distribution channels and more convenient access methods. It is also hoped that the power of the media will be used to publicize genuine guidelines, jointly resist piracy, maintain a healthy academic exchange environment, and ensure that doctors and patients can obtain high-quality and reliable medical information.
Of course, for the illegal act of pirating the guide and selling it for profit, we will take legal action and send a lawyer's letter to protect the intellectual property rights.
