According to the latest report from Canalys, Huawei regained its leading position in Chinese mainland's smartphone market in the first quarter of 2024, while Apple suffered a significant decline in sales.
Top 5 brand market share and shipments:
Huawei: With the enthusiastic market response of the Mate and nova series, Huawei shipped 11.7 million units and had a market share of 17%, successfully regaining the first place in the market.
OPPO: The outstanding performance of the Reno 11 series has propelled OPPO to quickly rise to second place with 10.9 million units shipped.
Honor, Vivo and Apple: After aggressive shipments in the fourth quarter of last year, all three companies slowed down in the quarter, ranking third, fourth and fifth with shipments of 10.6 million, 10.3 million and 10 million units, respectively.
It is worth mentioning that Toby Zhu, a senior analyst at Canalys, pointed out that although the growth rate of the Chinese market is slower than the global recovery rate of 11%, Huawei has used this opportunity to quickly regain market share. Production and supply issues for the Mate 60 series improved in the first quarter, becoming a key factor driving Huawei's growth.
In addition, Huawei's nova 12 series released in December, equipped with the HarmonyOS 4.0 system and supporting two-way satellite communication, further expanded the application range of Kirin chips and boosted sales performance in the mid-range market. Huawei has not only made a difference in the high-end market, but its P-series has been fully upgraded to the Pura 70, which uses breakthrough retractable lens technology to improve image performance, which has sparked widespread discussion in the market. This marks the completion of Huawei's full iteration of mobile phone products and continues to inject new vitality into the market.
