In 2017, I crossed the electrical engineering examination of Taiyuan University of Technology from Shanxi University majoring in automation, and passed CET-6 and CET-2 during my graduate studies, and I am a very ordinary 211 graduate student. Because I am a native of Jincheng, Shanxi, and my hometown is super close to Henan, I participated in the campus recruitment of Henan Power Grid at the beginning. On the day of Henan Power Grid School Recruitment, 985 and 211 gods from all walks of life gathered, and they have always heard that Henan people are special volumes, and they have seen it with their own eyes. In the end, I was lucky to receive an offer from the ordinary municipal bureau of Henan Power Grid.
After some communication and self-reflection with my parents, I feel that the biggest advantage of the municipal power grid in Henan and Shanxi is that it is stable, close to home, and there is no great room for development. In addition, my girlfriend longed for the metropolis life of Xi'an and Tianjin, so I finally gave up the grid offer.
The classmates around me don't understand my choice, after all, the State Grid job is really good, and it is close to home, so many people will choose the power grid without brains. Personally, I think there is still room for development in my work, and I personally enjoy the atmosphere of a big city with my partner, and I like the feeling that Meituan is full of fresh food. Although life in big cities can be stressful, housing prices are not an unsolvable problem.
Work at sea and look for opportunities
After giving up the power grid offer, I focused on submitting my resume to enterprises in Tianjin and Xi'an. From October to December 2023, I interviewed Xi'an CRRC, Xidian, BYD, and some design institutes. Overall, there is nothing to gain, although some of the jobs feel good, but the salary and working environment still make me hesitate a little.
Until the end of December, several students said that they had received an interview notice from X Electric Power Design Institute. I was very surprised at the time, because in early October, I submitted my resume to X Electric Power Design Institute and also entered the recruitment group, but at that time, the group management said that the company was busy and expected to arrange an interview in mid-October. However, I waited from October to November without waiting for the interview, and I thought I had recruited enough people and quit the group chat. At the end of December, I didn't find the job I wanted, and I was very anxious, combined with the work of my brothers and sisters and the relevant information I learned, I still wanted to go to X Electric Power Design Institute. I inquired about the situation with my brother who worked in the design institute, and it was said that there were still recruitment places this year, and the salary was good, so I resubmitted my resume. Eventually, a week after my resume was delivered, I received a call asking for an in-person written test and interview.
Successfully landed on the shore of the favorite electric power design institute
On the day of the interview, I arrived at the building of a design institute and saw the towering building and environment of the company, and my first impression of it was that the company was still strong. After that, I went to the office to hand over my resume to the person in charge, and then I was assigned to the classroom for a written test. The content of the written test is more miscellaneous, including professional course knowledge, practical tests, and English reading. The content is not particularly difficult, but it feels a little numb to do it.
The interview is relatively simple, the interviewer is a leader of a new energy department, and most of the questions are common questions. For example, I asked how many people in my family were, whether it was one or two bachelor's degrees, and whether I knew anything about our company's projects? I was still relatively relaxed at that time, and I replied: "There are three people in my family, although my bachelor's degree is two, but my major is electrical engineering, and my grades are good, and I know more about the company, and several of my brothers are working here." "Then the interviewer will look at my undergraduate transcripts, probably to see if I have failed the course. After that, the interviewer began to ask me questions about the professional course, such as the protection range of the lightning rod, what is the three-stage current protection, what are the conditions of the FM field? When I heard these questions, I was stupid, I didn't plan to take a batch of exams, and the professional courses were not reviewed at all, and I didn't know any of these questions. After hesitating for 1 minute, I apologized to the interviewer, saying that I was a little rusty with these questions, and the interviewer didn't say anything, just laughed and ended.
After the interview, I felt that I was not performing well, and I told my brother that the interview was over, and I would not know anything, and I might not be able to get into a certain design institute. But to my surprise, I received an offer a week later and successfully landed on shore.
For electrical students, most people may want to be "Party A", and the design institute, as a proper "Party B", will often become a "spare tire" for everyone to find a job, mainly because many design institutes work in provincial capitals and their treatment is not bad.
However, when entering the electric power design institute, we will also give priority to large design institutes such as China Power Construction and China Energy Construction, but the threshold requirements of these design institutes are not low, most of them require graduate degrees, and most of the institutes with good treatment recruit students from 985 and 211 colleges. According to Brother Electric, the 2024 campus recruitment of Central South Institute does not give female students from 985 colleges and universities the opportunity to interview, so the competition for some design institutes with good treatment is also fierce.
