Manchester United's Old Trafford Stadium has two options to refurbish and rebuild the new stadium

Manchester United Football Club has confirmed that Old Trafford will be redeveloped, with existing options including a new stadium near the current Old Trafford Stadium and an addition to the existing stadium to be refurbished, with construction commencing after the best option has been implemented.

It has been reported that Manchester United owner Sir Ratcliffe and his INEOS Group are considering the redevelopment of Old Trafford, one of which is to build a new state-of-the-art stadium next to the current site of Old Trafford, and the other is to carry out extensive refurbishment of the existing Old Trafford stadium.

Manchester United's director of operations, Collette Roche, confirmed the news: "The first option is to refurbish the existing stadium. If this programme is implemented, the main focus will be on the re-construction of a world-class South Grandstand and the refurbishment of the remaining three stands. Another option is to build a new stadium on our site, which will significantly increase the number of seats, and the new stadium will be one of the leading stadiums and provide a great experience for fans, teams and other stakeholders."

It is understood that Manchester United Football Club has set up a task force to follow up on the stadium project, which will include funding from the local government in Manchester, revamping the surrounding environment of the stadium and providing new state facilities to the north. According to the news reported by the local media "Daily Mail" in the United Kingdom, among the two plans, the cost of rebuilding the South Stand and renovating the other stands on the original site is low, and if this plan is implemented, the South Stand "Charlton Stand" will no longer be a single-storey design, but will be on par with the other three stands and become a multi-storey stand. The seating capacity at Old Trafford will be further increased from the current 74,000 to 90,000.
