At noon last Thursday, our delivery boy, Mr. Yao, decided to find a place to eat near a shopping mall after delivering an order. However, he never imagined that this lunch would plunge him into a strange dispute.
The story takes place on a hot summer afternoon. Mr. Yao was dressed in work clothes and bought a meal at the mall. In order not to affect the business of the store, he offered to eat out. So, he found a lounge chair on the side of the road in the mall, ready to start enjoying a delicious meal.
Before he could take a few bites, three managers wearing red armbands suddenly approached Mr. Yao and told Mr. Yao that he needed to finish it quickly. Mr. Yao was puzzled: "I have a meal, and I don't get in the way of you, why should I eat quickly?" However, the manager wearing the red armband replied confidently, saying that they would be inspected by leaders in a while, and that Mr. Yao's eating here would affect the city's appearance.
This reason sounds a bit outrageous, we all know that city appearance management mainly refers to the neatness and orderly management and maintenance of public places. But what is the problem with Mr. Yao sitting alone in the corner enjoying lunch?
So, Mr. Yao tentatively asked: "I'm just having a meal here, and I'm not setting up a stall to sell things, how can it affect the city's appearance?" The manager wearing the red armband took a tough attitude and insisted that he finish eating quickly. Mr. Yao was helpless, so he had to speed up and take a big bite of the hot meal.
However, the embarrassment did not end there. Just as Mr. Yao was about to finish eating, the manager wearing the red armband suddenly said, "Our leader is going to check, you should leave quickly!" Mr. Yao's eyes widened, and he thought, "Oh my God, it's unbelievable to be chased away after a meal!" Despite all the absurdities, Mr. Yao did not get angry, and he knew that arguing would be useless. So, he hurriedly packed his things, put down his lunch box, and left the place where he couldn't enjoy his lunch.
After returning home, Mr. Yao told his friends about the embarrassment. Everyone expressed their incomprehension that such a daily behavior as eating would be subject to such harsh restrictions. Someone joked: "Do you have to find a hidden corner to hide when you eat in the future?"
This unsatisfactory lunch experience has triggered us to think about the management of the cityscape. Why is he so discriminated against and restricted even when he eats a meal? While we are pursuing a civilized society, should we also give everyone basic respect and kindness?
Although Mr. Yao felt aggrieved by this embarrassment, he did not change his enthusiasm for work and life. He still sticks to his takeaway post and uses his hard work to provide high-quality services for everyone.
Mr. Yao's lunch incident also triggered us to reflect on the fact that we should respect the rights and dignity of everyone more, and not harm the legitimate rights and interests of others because of our own selfishness.
