On April 24, local time, the 2024 "Consular Service into the Community" event of the Chinese Consulate General in New York was held at Excelsior Mall in New York's Chinatown. The staff of the Consulate General, overseas Chinese leaders from Fujian, Zheng Deliang, Zheng Junguo, Zhang Yun, Zeng Xianqiu, Guo Shaoquan, Chen Haiyong, Dong Yongchun, Zheng Kunjin, etc., as volunteers, provided help and services to overseas Chinese who came to apply for health permits, passports and other businesses.

This activity mainly accepts services such as the renewal of passports of Chinese citizens over the age of 60 in the vicinity, the application of travel permits for Chinese children and the handling of certificates of health. The event was co-organized by the Fujian Institute and other associations in the United States. Zeng Xianqiu, secretary general of the Fujian Office in the United States, said that about 30 people had made appointments in advance for this event, but many people rushed to the event when they heard the news, and it is expected to provide services for hundreds of overseas Chinese. Many people came to inquire about visas and other issues, and they also received satisfactory answers.

"With the development of informatization, a lot of information is obtained online, and many elderly people are not good at using electronic products such as mobile phones, and it is difficult to get information in time. The staff of the Consulate General said.

It is reported that since the launch of this year's "Consular Service into the Community" series of activities on March 12, more than a month ago, the Consulate General in New York has held 18 "Consular Service into the Community" activities in various parts of the consular district, and has accepted nearly 2,000 applications for various consular documents.
