The new landmark in the Bay Area is "lit up"!

Guangzhou, a new landmark on the Pearl River

The museum is scheduled to open in May

Opened on May 1st! A new landmark has been added to the Pearl River!

The Baietan Dawan Art Center, which integrates the Guangdong Museum of Art, the Guangdong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum and the Guangdong Literature Museum, has a height of 78.5 meters, 11 floors above ground and 2 floors underground.

Designed by the team of He Jingtang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the art center is designed with the charm of "freehand in Etan, Yunshan art", and connects the three venues through the "Time Arcade", resembling a white "giant ship" that is about to set sail.

The heavyweight overrun and long-span double-layer corridor upgrading project across the two sides of the strait won the highest honor for engineering quality in China's construction steel structure industry - China Steel Structure Gold Award.

This nearly 360-meter-long "cultural giant ship" is located in the area of Baietan, where Guangzhou's "Thirteen Lines" is located, and complements the landscapes such as the White Swan Hotel, Taikoo Cang Wharf and Shamian along the coast, and echoes with the Canton Tower, Guangdong Provincial Museum, Guangzhou Grand Theatre and other cultural and tourism landmarks in the Zhujiang New Town area.

It not only has a profound cultural heritage and business genes of the Maritime Silk Road, but also outlines a future-oriented cultural landscape skyline, creates a new landmark of the millennium commercial capital, and stimulates the vitality of the riverside city.

Interpret the design of Baietan's Greater Bay Area Art Center

A few days ago, He Jingtang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was interviewed on the Baietanda Grand Stage to talk about the design concept and architectural characteristics of the Baietan-Dawan Art Center.

Opened on May 1st! A new landmark has been added to the Pearl River!

Q: What is the design concept of Baietan's Greater Bay Area Art Center?

The design concept is inspired by the historical background of the Greater Bay Area, "cultural giant wheel, time arcade, freehand of Etan, Yunshan Art Landscape", and the architectural form is like a cultural giant ship facing the Bay Area, facing the world, and sailing, placing great hopes on the Greater Bay Area to show cultural confidence and spread Lingnan culture to the world, and the beautiful vision of Baietan's millennium business and trade center to develop by leaps and bounds and stimulate new vitality.

Q: What are the architectural features of Baietan-Dawan Art Center?

Maximize the city's public space and provide citizens with an abundant waterfront. The Pearl River is the mother river of Guangzhou, and the Art Center, as a cultural landmark, focuses on the overall creation of the waterfront public space and forms a multi-level public space for citizens:

The first level, the ground floor: riverside landscape belt, hydrophilic plank road, hydrophilic platform, Baietan's big stage, overhead square, sunken square, etc.;

The second level, Feihong Corridor Bridge: a covered bridge open to the public, connecting the roof greening of the intangible cultural heritage theater square and the park's supporting service facilities;

The third level: the indoor and outdoor viewing platforms of each elevation of the art center, the art sharing hall, the 30-meter roof garden, the 36.8-meter viewing gallery, and the 50-meter roof garden of the art museum.

In addition, the façade of the building is made of white ice cracked glazed ceramic panels and glazed glass curtain walls, inheriting the Chinese ceramic culture from the Belt and Road to the world.

Q: How to grasp and integrate the overall relationship of "three museums in one"?

In the design, the three museums form their own independent tower volumes in the upper part, and the lower part forms an overall building base through the overall landscape, Feihong Corridor Bridge, shared art hall, underground commercial space and other shared functional bodies, especially the Feihong Corridor Bridge extending from the square to the third floor and the art sharing hall on the third floor, which is the highlight of the art center, one for the public and the other for visitors to the three museums, integrating the three museums into one in space.
