The two-way six-lane expressway opened to traffic has elevated, interchanges and tunnels throughout the whole process, including 17 interchange nodes, 29 upper and lower bridge ramps, 4 pedestrian bridges, and there is no traffic light in the whole process.
After the opening of the road, residents can drive from any part of the city to the expressway within 10 minutes, the expressway within 15 minutes, and the airport or high-speed rail station in 30 minutes.
The completion of the ring line speed-up reconstruction project will connect the five major urban areas of Xiangcheng, Fancheng, Gaoxin, Dongjin and Xiangzhou in series.
The direct radiation area is about 400 square kilometres, covering and benefiting about 1.8 million people.
The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said that the completion and opening of the ring road not only greatly improved the urban transportation, but also allowed Xiangyang to enter the era of "double ring" rapidity.
It has also expanded the urban space, improved the urban functions, and enhanced the urban energy level, becoming a powerful engine to promote the high-quality development of the Xiangyang metropolitan area.
