A place refers to an environmental space with a specific meaning that is occupied by a specific person or a specific thing. The composition of the place needs to be supported by the superimposed physical environment of nature and artificiality, and cannot be separated from the behavior of people in a specific social and cultural background. In this project, we will choose a site in Liangzhu National Archaeological Site Park to design a place for people to view, play, and relax. There will be 1 central exhibition hall, 4 display units, 1 catering unit and 1 public toilet unit in the venue

Basic building requirements:

Each unit consists of two containers with an axis size of 6m*3m and a clear height of 2.4m

The exhibition hall of the central site pit is 10.5m*10.5m. The landing position of the building components should avoid the site pit. The floor of the exhibition area is 0.3m above the original ground. The net height of the exhibition area shall not be less than 3m, and the net height of the site area shall not be less than 4.2m

Building Functional Requirements:

Based on the T-shaped unit, the design meets the functions of two people such as studying, meeting, resting, washing, and storage, and finally converts the living unit into a central exhibition hall, a display unit, a catering unit and a public toilet unit

The habitat unit requires attention to the requirements of lighting, ventilation, shading, visibility and privacy, and introduces green building technical measures

The exhibition part is made up of four display units and the central exhibition hall, the display unit and the central exhibition hall should be linked, and the organization of the display cabinets, display panels and tour routes is considered

The F&B unit is divided into a separate production area, a sales area and a relatively open outdoor dining area

Public toilets are divided into men's and women's toilets. It is necessary to fully consider the basic dimensions of each facility and organize the flow line reasonably

Bachelor's degree, Zhejiang University

I am a newcomer to the Department of Architecture of Zhejiang University, a student majoring in grade 18. The series design of Liangzhu National Heritage Park was a course design assignment in the second semester of my freshman year, and it was also the first design assignment based on a real-life case that I came into contact with. It was a real challenge for me to design a park at the time

As an architectural novice, I usually like to brush all kinds of official accounts and design websites related to architecture, and worship the works of architectural gods. Whenever I come across some interesting case, or an interesting design detail in a certain case, I write it down. In the process, I gradually accumulated some of my own ideas about architecture, and gradually changed from "copying other people's designs" to "doing my own design" to "making designs with soul"

For Official Accounts

"Architectural Copying Notes" is one of the several public accounts I use that is particularly useful. There are many design cases that can be found on the Internet, but the cases given in the "Architectural Sketch Notes" are more complete, especially the analysis process of each case is very suitable for the requirements of our school homework. So for me, who is new to architecture, this platform can really dig up a lot of treasures

Design Concept

01 The orderly development of the unit block

According to the requirements of the teaching task, the first thing we need to do is to explore the order of the six T-shaped units within the confines of the building. To do this, we use LEGO bricks, a simple yet varied toy, to express our ideas and form a clear overall order

Each frame of LEGO represents 1.5M, and the needs of the human body must be taken into account when discussing the law of order, so the final form needs to be repeatedly scrutinized. The order of E0.1 is based on the context of human settlements. Each unit is intended for two researchers to live in temporarily, so the main points of my layout design are:

1. It provides a semi-private outdoor activity space (dotted line), an outdoor plaza (dotted and dashed part) and a traffic artery (arrow part). Each part is closely related to the others. Considering the cost of construction, the unit layout when the park was built was still based on this order. The pattern of evolution is to increase the area of public space and consider the design of greenery (gray part)

2. Strengthen the connection between the units and form a semi-private courtyard

3. Form a more obvious traffic flow line and primary and secondary entrances and exits

02 Habitat design of T-shaped living units

Temporary container buildings for two occupants should be kept simple. In response to the difficult T type type, it is more reasonable to simplify the complex and adopt a symmetrical interior furniture design. At the same time, considering the needs of the researchers, the horizontal and vertical parts of the T-shape were used as the private part (bedroom) and the common part (living room and studio)

At the same time, according to the local wind direction, sun altitude angle and other information, in the design process, I also simply realized the application of green building technology through the opening of the grille, and met the basic requirements of ventilation and lighting with the minimum cost

When I was working on the windowing, I noticed the guiding effect of light, and I applied the visual effect of the windowing to the design. The skylight above the desk, the skylight at the top of the bedroom passage and the floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides gradually change the light from soft to bright, increasing the sense of depth and depth of the interior, while making the interior both layered and vivid

03 The construction and design of the central site pit

The central pit exhibition hall is the most critical and is at the heart of the park. At first, I wanted to adopt the roof form of an old building. However, in order to blend in with other architectural elements and increase its interest, the form of the exhibition hall of the pit in the middle gradually evolved into the form of an octafold surface formed by the "cornices" at the four corners. The four corners are stable and square, forming a more stretched visual effect

As the central building, the exhibition hall of the ruins pit also pays great attention to the detailed design. The top of the four cross-pillars that bear the load is gradually unfolded to take on the load of the roof. The directionality of the water bundle and purlin strips of the roof is not only due to the requirements of structure and function, but also has a formal effect on the stretching of the folded surface, so as to achieve the unity of structure and form

Although the form of the central exhibition hall is established at the level of the model, according to the requirements of the brief, we also need to consider the size, material and connection method of each component during the actual construction. With the help of the teacher, I considered the material and waterproofing treatment of the roof, perfected the paving form of the floor and the corresponding keel treatment, thickened the four main load-bearing columns and clarified the stress form of the roof truss

04 Site design of the heritage park

The final part of the place design needs to integrate the design results of the first two parts, and vividly organize the central exhibition hall, the display unit, the catering unit and the public toilet unit. Its organizational law is further deepened on the law of the human settlements unit. The design of the place needs to take into account both the material conditions and the cultural context and human activities

Therefore, when making the final design of the park, based on the design background of "Liangzhu Ruins Park", I incorporated some "cultural symbols" related to the site park into the design, such as the atrium-like circular exhibition hall enclosed by T-shaped units, and the waterscape sketches that imply the Liangzhu regional symbol. At the same time, the design elements of a symmetrical central layout and vertical grilles unify the entire park

Career planning

Recently, in addition to the main course study, I am also preparing for some scientific research training projects and competition projects. For my future career plan, I hope to become my own design firm. Of course, after graduation, I mainly entered the design institute to exercise my professional skills. Therefore, for the third and fourth years of college, I will arrange more internship projects
