Li Rongfu is a biology teacher at a nine-year school in Tianbei Town, Jiaohe City, Jilin Province. At that time, he was fascinated by every flower, grass, insect and bird in the mountains. Li Rongfu said that children should grow up in nature, and that is the best classroom. After becoming a teacher, he took the children to love and protect birds, and insisted on "walking with green" for more than 20 years.

An ambulance He was associated with environmental protection
In the winter of 2003, Li Rongfu's son rescued an injured "big bird" in the wild. Many people around wanted to buy it, but Li Rongfu said resolutely: "This is a wild animal, no matter how much money is given, it will not be sold." With the arrival of experts from the Jilin Wildlife Conservation Association, Li Rongfu learned that this "big bird" was called the Oriental White Stork (guàn), which was a national first-class protected animal, and there were less than 900 left in the country at that time. The Jilin Wildlife Conservation Association intended to reward Li Rongfu with 500 yuan, but he insisted on refusing and accepted only two books on wildlife protection.
Since then, Li Rongfu has set up a "Bird Love and Bird Protection Publicity Team" at the school to lead the children to carry out wildlife protection and publicity activities. In the activity, the team gradually formed 12 groups, including the mountain patrol and cleaning group, the heron ridge care group, the autumn grain picking group, and the help birds wintering group. For more than 20 years, the nine-year school in Tianbei Town has organized children to publicize the "Wildlife Protection Law" and wildlife protection activities in 23 villages, 96 tuns and 148 communities in Tianbei Town with the theme of "Small Hands Holding Big Hands". At the same time, it also cooperated with the forestry department to rescue more than 200 species of wild animals such as Oriental white stork, golden eagle, giant buzzard (kuáng), egret, mandarin duck, swan, wild goose, etc., and also protected the largest heron group in Jilin Province.

A small thing to establish the concept of environmental protection
In the past, the villagers did not have a strong sense of environmental protection and lacked a certain amount of common sense. In June 2008, student Xiaoyu told Li Rongfu that her neighbor, Grandpa Liu, was very distressed when he washed pesticide barrels in the fish pond, causing all the fish in the pond to die. After listening to this, Li Rongfu combined with the seventh-grade biology textbook to explain to the students that when the toxic substances emitted by humans enter the ecosystem, they will continue to accumulate through the food chain, endangering a variety of organisms in the ecosystem, and ultimately threatening human beings themselves. The children also learned that protecting water is protecting human beings.
This incident also prompted the school to set up an after-school observation group for river care, and printed and distributed thousands of leaflets. The children carried out propaganda and supervision according to the distribution of families, advocating that people should not wash medicine barrels and litter pesticide bottles in the river, contributing to the local environmental protection and the protection of the mother river.

Wholeheartedly educate people and cultivate environmental protection forces
In 2016, Li Rongfu took out 800,000 yuan of money for his son's wedding house to build a 260-hectare botanical garden, which was used as a "social practice base for ecological and moral education for minors", and was open to the public free of charge.
Over the years, Li Rongfu has carried out more than 120 activities such as farming and reading education, popular science education, Chinese herbal medicine identification, rural bird watching and nature experience, and forest health care in the base, with more than 13,000 people visiting and learning. Li Rongfu also won 60,000 yuan worth of ecological books for the botanical garden through the China Wildlife Conservation Association, and the modern version of the "Baicao Garden" and "Ecological Book House" was completed, where children can practice while reading.

"I want to sow green seeds in the hearts of children, let it take root and sprout, and one day in the future, when the children grow up, they will be the main force in the construction of ecological civilization!" As a biology teacher, Li Rongfu has always practiced "writing papers on the ground", and through teaching and popular science, students and parents have a stronger and stronger awareness of ecological protection.
