Enhance the capacity of gas storage for peak regulation and supply assurance

As the weather warms, the northern region has gradually stopped heating, and the winter supply of natural gas has entered the final stage. In the supply season last winter and this spring, major gas storage should be fully extracted, which has played an important role in ensuring energy security. After the peak of supply, the major gas storage warehouses have started a new round of gas injection, accumulating "confidence" for this winter's supply.

Experts said that the use of underground gas storage can store the surplus gas in the gas transmission system at low peak gas consumption, and produce it at peak gas consumption to supplement the shortage of pipeline gas supply and ensure continuous gas consumption during peak hours, which is of great significance for peak gas regulation and safe gas supply.

Ensure the stability and safety of winter supply

Recently, the country's first underground gas storage - PetroChina Daqing Oilfield Lamadian Gas Storage successfully completed the task of ensuring natural gas supply last winter and this spring, which lasted 117 days, with a cumulative gas production of 90.23 million cubic meters, exceeding the plan by 10 million cubic meters, and the daily output exceeded 1 million cubic meters.

"During this round of winter supply, in order to cope with the extremely cold weather, the Lamadian Gas Storage Lara Injection Station System in Daqing Oilfield summarized the work experience over the years, established a sound communication and coordination and emergency response mechanism, and adopted the '3+1' operation and maintenance mode to maximize the gas source guarantee. Luo Kai, director of the Lamadian gas injection station of Daqing Oilfield, introduced that the Laer gas injection station pays attention to instantaneous flow changes in real time according to the actual situation in the station and well station pipelines, scientifically responds to gas volume fluctuations, and deals with abnormal production conditions in a timely manner. At the same time, do a good job in the maintenance of electric heaters, tank insulation and other equipment, and promote the safe and stable increase of gas production and gas transmission.

Previously, according to the temperature changes and task adjustments in various places, major gas storage warehouses have successively completed the task of winter gas supply and production.

On March 10, the Kekeya gas storage in the Tarim Oilfield ended its first gas production cycle. During the whole gas production cycle, the maximum daily gas supply exceeded 1.05 million cubic meters, and the number of days with a daily gas supply of more than 1 million cubic meters reached 45 days, which effectively improved the peak regulation and supply guarantee capacity of natural gas in southern Xinjiang and effectively played the role of gas storage in emergency peak regulation.

On March 11, the 23rd gas production period of PetroChina's Dagang Oilfield Gas Storage Group ended, with a cumulative gas production of 2.206 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 16%, setting a new record for gas production in previous years. As the largest and fastest regional regulated gas source in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Dagang Oilfield Gas Storage Group is mainly responsible for the seasonal peak regulation and emergency gas supply tasks of natural gas in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and the natural gas can reach the urban area of Beijing in 2 hours, which is an important supporting facility of the Shaanxi-Beijing pipeline.

On March 20, after the Hutubi gas storage in Xinjiang Oilfield of PetroChina, the largest gas storage in mainland China, successfully completed the task of the 11th gas production cycle, it carried out the balance period inspection and maintenance and injection-production conversion work non-stop. Last year, the gas storage achieved safe gas injection for 212 days, an increase of 60 million cubic meters of gas year-on-year. The inventory at the end of the gas injection period hit a record high, with a capacity rate of 97.9%, becoming the cycle with the largest gas injection since the establishment of the warehouse, and the inventory at the end of the gas injection period exceeded 10 billion cubic meters for five consecutive years.

At the end of March, PetroChina's Shuangtuozi Gas Storage in Jilin Oilfield completed the task of peak regulation and supply assurance, and the gas production volume of the entire gas production cycle exceeded the plan by 12.71 million cubic meters. As the first gas storage in Jilin Province, Shuangtuozi Gas Storage is carefully designed, lean management, and fine operation, and multiple measures are taken to ensure peak regulation and supply, ensuring the stability and safety of industrial gas and residential gas consumption in the province.

Start a new round of gas injection

After the successful completion of the task of ensuring supply last winter and this spring, a new round of gas injection production was also launched. On March 21, the gas injection compressor unit of PetroChina Dagang Oilfield Gas Storage Group completed the injection-production conversion and started operation smoothly, becoming the first gas storage in China to start gas injection work.

"In order to successfully complete the injection-production conversion, the gas storage group of Dagang Oilfield organized the inspection and maintenance of the gas injection system in advance, and has completed the maintenance of more than 2,000 sets of equipment and facilities in eight categories, and the maintenance completion rate of compressor units has reached 100%, ensuring safe and stable gas injection. Li Wei, safety director of Tianjin Gas Storage Branch of Dagang Oilfield, introduced that the gas storage group implements the "one well, one policy" precise management model, does a good job in the preventive inspection and maintenance of compressor units, and encrypts the operation and maintenance management of key wells, key equipment and pipelines, so as to improve the overall operation efficiency of the gas storage group and the capacity of gas storage peak regulation.

As of April 7, 11 underground gas storage reservoirs in Dagang Oilfield have been put into gas injection production, and 60 wells have been opened, with a gas injection volume of 259 million cubic meters. A steady stream of natural gas is injected into the "underground granary" through the pipeline to ensure the supply of natural gas this winter and next spring.

On March 28 and April 1, the Shuangtaizi Gas Storage and Lei 61 Gas Storage under the Liaohe Oilfield Gas Storage Group of PetroChina successively started gas injection work in 2024. As of April 6, 23 wells in the reservoir group have started gas injection, and the gas injection volume in the stage has exceeded 100 million cubic meters. The gas storage group was planned in advance, and the preparations for a new round of gas injection were started before the last round of gas production was completed to achieve efficient injection-production switching.

Other gas storage facilities are also stepping up renovation and commissioning work to prepare for the next task.

On March 13, the Kekeya Oil and Gas Operation and Maintenance Center of Tarim Oilfield carried out on-site debugging of the compressor of Kekeya Gas Storage to prepare for a new round of gas storage from production to injection;

As of April 15, 46 wells in three underground gas storage reservoirs in North China Oilfield have been put into a new round of gas injection production, and the gas injection volume in the stage has exceeded 200 million cubic meters. As an important regional regulated gas source in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the gas storage group of North China Oilfield has maintained rapid growth in gas production and peak regulation capacity by accelerating capacity expansion and production and new reservoir construction.

System optimization operation management

With the large scale, complex system and heavy gas supply tasks of the gas storage, the major gas storage facilities comprehensively optimize the operation and management, dynamically optimize the emergency plan, and ensure the safe and smooth completion of the production and injection work.

"In view of all kinds of production problems in the gas injection station, Daqing Oilfield Lamadian Gas Storage adheres to the concept of lean management, strengthens the institutionalized management of the production process, and ensures that the equipment is guaranteed to the individual and the responsibility is guaranteed to the individual; Luo Kai introduced.

In view of the seasonal supply-demand imbalance in the mainland's natural gas consumption, the Dagang Oilfield Gas Storage Group has adopted the method of wall chart operation, comprehensively launched the "three-year action plan" of 5 billion cubic meters of working gas, and continuously accelerated the research and construction of the reserve reservoir based on the basic principles of "large reservoir and large station, large input and large output, coordinated oil recovery and large-scale development". At the same time, we will continue to improve the construction progress of the in-service storage expansion and production project, coordinate the operation nodes, refine the work process, and clarify the countermeasures, so as to ensure the safety, standardization, high-quality and efficient completion of the Zhongbei gas storage expansion and production project.

In the face of difficulties such as many points and a wide range of areas, the Liaohe Oilfield Gas Storage Company carried out preliminary work such as investigation and mapping, preparation of materials, and formulation of inspection and maintenance plans in advance, and the production department grasped the arrangements for gas production shutdown and gas injection in advance, so as to prepare for the clear maintenance window time and maintenance workload, and the gas storage group took less than half a month from the end of gas production to the transfer to the gas injection stage.

Xu Changfeng, chief engineer of Hutubi gas storage, introduced that in order to ensure the safety, stability and efficiency of winter supply, Hutubi gas storage in Xinjiang Oilfield has carried out "general physical examination" for all equipment since November last year, formulated and rehearsed various emergency response plans, and adopted the mode of "manual inspection + remote monitoring" and "routine inspection + key parts" to control safety risks, so that the key equipment for gas production is in the best state and ensure that when the cold wave comes, the gas storage can play a role in the first time.

Shuangtuozi Gas Storage adheres to the evaluation of single-well gas injection and production capacity, inventory index analysis, injection and production effect evaluation, etc., and scientifically guides the injection and production operation of the gas storage. Use the Internet of Things and other means to encrypt production inspections and resolutely put an end to the occurrence of "running and dripping". At the same time, the process control is strengthened, and regular inspections and spot checks are carried out on the operation of process parameters, the proficiency of employees in emergency response procedures, and the stability of various instruments and meters, so as to ensure the safety, stability and efficiency of gas storage production.

"The application of Kekeya gas storage in Tarim Oilfield integrates monitoring, early warning and analysis to realize real-time data collection, safety early warning and remote control, and scientifically improve the level of safety management. In the current round of gas production cycle, the Kekeya gas storage gave full play to the maximum gas production capacity through the prediction of gas production capacity during the gas production period and the analysis of the gas production capacity of a single well, which provided experience for effectively improving the natural gas supply system in southern Xinjiang.
