On April 25, 2024, the Intermediate People's Court of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, held a public trial of the first instance of the bribery case of Cui Maohu, former deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee and former director of the State Administration for Religious Affairs.

The Shenyang Municipal People's Procuratorate indicted and alleged: From 2007 to 2023, the defendant Cui Maohu took advantage of his position as deputy director of the Organization Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, secretary of the Lijiang Municipal Party Committee, and vice governor of Yunnan Province, as well as the convenience of his authority or status, to seek benefits for others in project contracting, fund allocation, cadre appointment, etc., and illegally accepted property totaling 10.43 million yuan. The procuratorate requested that Cui Maohu be investigated for criminal responsibility for the crime of accepting bribes.
