除了MIT、Emerson、Tufts大学,

Boston College和哈佛大学草坪上也出现了帐篷营地。

Although Harvard University has issued a warning to close Harvard Yard and pointed out possible disciplinary action, the students have set up camp.

The students stood in a united front with their peers at Columbia University in New York, calling for peace while demanding that the university divest from Israel and do more to protect Jewish students.

MIT students said the camp would remain in place until university officials met their demands, hoping MIT would stop accepting funding from groups that directly or indirectly funded the war.

The school police have been keeping a close eye on the scene to ensure that there are no riots.

Although no college students have been arrested in Boston at the moment, Emerson's group of protesting college students is now somewhat "dangerous."

Since Sunday night, students have occupied the alleys, camping every night, singing regularly, and hosting lectures, discussions, protest trainings, family dinners, and more.

On Wednesday, Emerson's students formed a 2-3 row deep human wall and blocked both ends of the alley. But students, professors, and passers-by can pass through the "human wall," which is primarily designed to block access for police and Emerson administrators.

"The more people, the less risk everyone is getting arrested"

However, BPD has directly informed university leadership that some of the protesters' actions have directly violated the Boston City Ordinance.

Unlike Harvard and MIT, Emerson is located in downtown Boston, and does not have a school-specific lawn park, and although the alleys occupied by students are partly owned by the school, it also has public rights-of-way.

Boston police and fire departments have warned school executives that "imminent enforcement action" could unfold in Boyston Place alley.

  • Blocking streets and fire hydrants creates a fire hazard
  • Suspected of obstructing pedestrian access to the alley
  • Make public noise
  • Some protesters harassed & intimidated Jewish supporters as well as people passing through the alleys

Last month, 12 Emerson students were arrested during a protest outside Bernhardt's inauguration.

On Tuesday night, Columbia executives in New York made some progress after negotiating with students, with student protesters pledging to remove some tents and ensure that only students could attend the camp.
