He studied political education as an undergraduate, and from his master's degree, he studied political economy, and stayed at Nankai University as an associate professor after graduation.
He was a professor at Nankai University for nine years, during which time he was promoted from associate professor to professor, and in 1999, he became a responsible professor at the Institute of Economics at Tsinghua University, where he was also a doctoral supervisor.
【Changes during the May Day holiday】
May Day is not a native holiday in China, it first originated in 1880 and was born in the midst of the workers' revolution in the United States.

After the founding of New China, the State Council announced that May Day would be designated as a holiday for all Chinese people after the 12th government affairs meeting, and it began to be officially implemented.
After several revisions, the country finally adjusted the May Day holiday to seven days, during which time was very sufficient whether it was traveling or returning home to visit parents.

There was even a program called "May Day Seven Days of Music" before, and the reason why the May Day holiday was changed from seven days to five days. This is inseparable from Cai Jiming's suggestion.
As we mentioned earlier, Cai Jiming mainly studies economics, and he believes that the seven-day long holiday will do more harm than good to the country, and it will also have a great impact on the physical and mental health of the people.
From an economic point of view, he feels that such a long vacation is not conducive to the long-term development of tourism, and it is also not conducive to the maintenance of scenic spots.
And the 7-day holiday on May Day has a great impact on traffic, most people want to go home, but the result is often blocked on the road together, and it also causes trouble for some residents who do not go home to travel normally.
He believes that if the vacation time is too long, it will be difficult for people to adapt for a while after returning to work, which will reduce the work efficiency of workers.
Moreover, such a large-scale shutdown on a national scale will also lag behind in productivity, which will have a certain impact on the economy of the whole country.
So he wrote a holiday adjustment plan, and in 2006 submitted his own plan to the central government, in which he proposed to shorten the May Day holiday and disperse it to traditional festivals such as Qingming and Dragon Boat Festival.
And what he proposed at that time was actually to cut off the May Day Golden Week and the 11th Golden Week, and the relevant departments also agreed with Cai Jiming's views and discussed his plan.
In the end, taking into account the mood of the people, the relevant departments chose to revise only the time of the May Day holiday, and officially implemented his plan in 2008.
【Controversy】
As soon as this policy came out, it can be said that the people's resentment was boiling, and the majority of workers began to look for who was behind the cause of this incident, after all, the vacation of two days was reduced in vain.
Because Cai Jiming made the plan public when he proposed it at that time, the laborers soon found his information.
At that time, someone set up a special station in Tieba to scold him, so Cai Jiming's deeds were spread more widely, and more working people knew this "holiday predator".
Later, some more radical people appeared, feeling that it was no longer enough to scold him on the Internet, and found a way to find out his contact information and called him to scold him.
Cai Jiming was distressed for a while, he felt that he was also innocent, he just proposed a plan, and it was the relevant departments that finally adopted it, why did he be treated like this.
Later, he took the post bar website to court in a fit of anger, because he felt that if there was no post bar, his information would not have been exposed, and he felt that Baidu post bar was the culprit.
He believes that Baidu has not fulfilled its obligations, so the platform should immediately delete the post, apologize to him, and compensate him for mental damages of 2 million yuan.
The final result was that Cai Jiming won the lawsuit, but the court rejected most of his claims, and the compensation was cut to 100,000 yuan.
【Compensatory leave system】
If Cai Jiming only cut two days of vacation, then the compensatory leave system makes workers even more miserable, and many enterprises have not implemented the two-day holiday system.
And after the compensatory leave, whether it is a long vacation or a short vacation, it is necessary to make up for it, especially for workers who take a single holiday, they only have one day off on Sunday, and they often have to make up shifts, and it is also common to work for more than ten days.
