What does this mean? The reason is very simple, because the core purpose of the United States in promoting NATO's eastward expansion is only one, that is, to find another "imaginary enemy" for NATO, a behemoth, and only by doing so can NATO not disintegrate. However, if there is an "imaginary enemy" of China, the United States can hype up the "China threat" argument and thus continue to control the NATO bloc.
After understanding this, I believe everyone will understand why the United States must promote the core purpose of NATO's eastward expansion into the Pacific.
