Astronauts not only have to adapt to the weightless environment in space, but also face various hardships during space operations, so female astronauts are very rare in the world, and it can even be said that there are only a handful.
Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the majority of astronauts on the mainland are male, because of the natural menstrual cycle of women and the difference in strength between women and men, few female astronauts have successfully ascended to the sky.
So far, there are only two female astronauts on the mainland, and they must have made even more strenuous efforts to go to space.
One is Liu Yang, the first female astronaut in the history of the mainland, and the other is Wang Yaping, the great mother who picked stars for her daughter.
Wang Yaping has had a dream of aerospace since she was a child, she wants to fly into space to see the vast world, so she has worked hard for this dream since she was a child, and studied hard.
In 1997, she was admitted to Changchun Flight Academy, which is one step closer to completing her aerospace dream.
In those years at Changchun College, she worked hard to study her homework and also used her spare time to learn flight piloting skills, and her flying performance was also very good.
After graduation, Wang Yaping entered the army and became a transport pilot, and she was involved in the earthquake relief of the Wenchuan earthquake and the cloud and rain reduction of the Beijing Olympic Games.
At the beginning of the new round of astronaut selection, Wang Yaping was very excited, so she signed up excitedly, and through multiple selections, she successfully became a reserve astronaut.
But it is not enough to become a reserve astronaut, to become a real astronaut has to go through a lot of inhuman devil training.
Including but not limited to underwater training in simulated space weightlessness environment, vestibular function training and centrifuge overweight training, etc.
And there are also simulated low oxygen training and endurance training that can't sleep for three days and three nights, each training is unbearable for ordinary people.
And what is unfavorable to Wang Yaping is that the training intensity of male and female astronauts is the same, which shows that she has to work 100 times more than male astronauts to realize her aerospace dream.
But Wang Yaping faced such a dilemma, she did not flinch, gritted her teeth and insisted, and later in an interview with reporters, Wang Yaping revealed that she would lose one to two pounds at the end of each training, and her hands were shaking when eating.
But the hard training paid off, and Wang Yaping was finally able to fulfill her long-held dream of flying into space, and in October 2021, Wang Yaping was identified as the pilot of the Shenzhou-13 manned mission.
Because of the difference in the physiological structure of men and women, Wang Yaping, as a female astronaut, has to take birth control pills to delay menstruation before taking off.
Because when menstruation comes, girls will not only be sore, but also emotionally irritable and sensitive, which will seriously delay the efficiency of space operations, so they choose to take drugs to mediate this physiological phenomenon.
At 0:00 on October 16, 2021, the Shenzhou-13 manned spacecraft took Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu, three outstanding astronauts, to the space.
So they coined the phrase "I'm out of the cabin and feel good" that is still popular today.
The three of them broadcast one after another and felt good, which made the ground responders laugh, and also made netizens who watched the live broadcast smile, and even gave these three interesting astronauts the title of "space cross talk trio".
This time they were on a six-month mission, which China had never spent in space for such a long time, and what exactly would happen during those six months was unknown.
The astronauts carried out scientific and technological experiments and applications in the fields of aerospace medicine and microgravity physics in space, and at the same time showed their lives in space to their compatriots far away on Earth.
Wang Yaping even carried out a "heaven and earth linkage" and gave a unique space science teaching course to people across the country.
She taught the students on the ground that the distribution of blood in the weightless state of the human body in space is completely different from the distribution on the ground, and the blood in the lower limbs will surge upward, which is why astronauts in space look fatter than on the ground.
However, if the blood surge for a long time is not treated, it will affect people's health, so the astronauts will exercise regularly to make the blood flow, and her explanation has allowed many children who are interested in aerospace to learn new knowledge.
Coinciding with the holding of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Wang Yaping also showed the camera the Bingdundun in his hand, and used the Bingdundun as a teaching equipment to tell the children about Newton's first law.
In the case of weightlessness in space, the object will move forward with the direction of propulsion and will not fall, which makes many students call it magical.
And Wang Yaping also answered many people's questions, such as how to keep yourself clean in space, how to wash your hair, and so on.
Wang Yaping said that washing hair in space is a little more troublesome than washing hair on land, and first squeezes a special foaming shampoo into the hair little by little.
Then squeeze the water from the drinking bag into your hair, rub it thoroughly with your hands, then use a towel glove to absorb the moisture from your hair, and finally wrap it in a hair dryer cap.
With occasional live space broadcasts and important space assignments, six months have passed before you know it, and the three heroes can finally go home.
On April 16, 2022, in the tense anticipation of the people of the whole country, the return capsule of the three astronauts returned safely to the land of the motherland.
Astronaut Zhai Zhigang's first sentence after coming out of the return capsule was "I have landed safely, the return capsule is upright, and I feel good", Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu also followed the captain and said that they felt good, and this six-month "business trip" finally came to an end.
Yesterday, April 24, the ninth China Space Day in Chinese history, Beijing's Sky City held an exhibition on the theme of space.
Astronaut Wang Yaping also appeared at the event, wearing a uniform and enthusiastically explaining to reporters the names and uses of the items at the exhibition.
When Wang Yaping faced the interview, she said such an impressive sentence, she said that dreams are the stars in the universe, which seem to be out of reach, but as long as you put in enough effort, you will definitely be able to touch them.
Everyone has a seed called a dream in their heart, and some dreams seem unattainable, but as long as they work hard to chase up, nothing will be realized, and astronaut Wang Yaping is a good example.
