On April 20th, the team of Trabzon National Theatre in Turkey and Lufeng Shadow Puppet Troupe of Shanwei City, Guangdong Province opened the 47th stop of the "Multicultural Center - Global Tour" at Guangzhou Library. The two troupes presented three shadow puppet performances, workshops and exhibitions at the Guangzhou Library, and launched a "dialogue on intangible cultural heritage" spanning 5,950 kilometers.

Shadow puppetry originated in China and later came to Turkey, and both developed their own characteristics. According to reports, Turkish Karaguez shadow puppetry and Chinese shadow puppetry were selected into the UNESCO "Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
On the same day, the team of the Trabzon National Theatre in Turkey brought a shadow puppet play from Karaguez to perform the allegorical drama "The Magic Lamp". In Turkish shadow puppetry, Karagoz is the central character of the whole plot, and "Karagoz" has also become another name for Turkish shadow puppetry. It is understood that this is the first public performance of the Turkish National Theater in Chinese mainland, and the first time to perform on the same stage with a Chinese theater troupe.

As a representative of Guangdong shadow puppetry, Lufeng shadow puppetry is the only remnant of Chaozhou shadow puppetry, one of the three major shadow puppet systems in the mainland, and Lufeng shadow puppet troupe is the only professional shadow puppet troupe in Guangdong Province. In the following performances, the troupe will also present the burlesque "Zhu Bajie's Daughter-in-law" and the allegorical play "The Crow and the Fox".
At the same time as the performance, the troupes of the two places also jointly presented a shadow puppet workshop. Under the guidance of the shadow puppeteer, readers are divided into groups to complete the steps of drawing, coloring, cutting, splicing, etc., to make unique Turkish and Lufeng shadow puppet dolls, and through the interaction of the puppet characters, the shadow puppet "rivalry" between China and Turkey is carried out on the spot.

In the Multicultural Hall on the 8th floor of the North of Guangzhou Library, the exhibition "Karagöz Guangdong Adventures - The Shadow Puppet Story of Turkey and Lu Feng" presents more than 20 shadow puppet figures collected by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Lufeng Shadow Puppet Preservation Center, including the protagonists Karagöz and Hacivat in the Turkish repertoire, as well as the characters such as hawkers, musicians, and dancers who often appear; The character image of Mengjiao and the dragon.
