As a national engineering survey and design giant in the hall of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Sun Lili can be described as a well-deserved female role model, she has recently become a candidate for the "2024 China's Top Ten Brand Women" and will attend the 17th Women's Forum of the 2024 China Brand Festival.
In 1983, after graduating from East China Petroleum Institute (now China University of Petroleum (East China)) with a major in refining engineering, Sun Lili embarked on the road of petrochemical engineering, which is full of challenges and opportunities. Her upbringing is an inspirational legend.
With her love for the profession and her persistent pursuit of her career, Sun Lili has successively served as the general manager of Sinopec Saudi Arabia Yanbu Refinery Project and the general manager of Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. Under her leadership, a number of landmark projects have been successfully constructed.
She presided over the construction of the first set of independent technology aromatics complex, the first single-series 10-million-ton refinery in China, the world's second largest high-acid natural gas purification plant, and the largest overseas joint venture oil refinery in mainland China - 20 million tons/year Yanbu refinery in Saudi Arabia. The completion of these projects has not only improved the technical level of petrochemical projects in the mainland, but also injected a strong impetus into the country's economic development.
Sun Lili's scientific research work has always been aimed at the national strategy and met the needs of the country. Faced with the embarrassing situation that the production technology of paraxylene has been monopolized by foreign companies for a long time, she took on the heavy burden and led the team to develop a "complete set of high-efficiency and environmentally friendly aromatic hydrocarbon technology", which filled the domestic gap in time and made the mainland the third country in the world to master this technology. In the process of R&D and innovation of the team, a series of national or industry standards have also been formed, realizing the transformation from "Made in China" to "Created in China". She also won the special prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

In addition, she also presided over the research and development of a series of engineering technologies for clean and efficient conversion of crude oil, made a major breakthrough in the integrated innovation of oil refining technology, conquered the key technology of high-acid natural gas purification, solved the global problem of ultra-large-scale safe and efficient purification of high-acid natural gas, and made outstanding contributions to national energy security and environmental protection. She has won the first "Outstanding Engineer Award", was selected into the eighth batch of national engineering survey and design masters of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, was elected as a fellow of the first Chemical and Engineering Society of China, and was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2019. Behind these honors is her dedication to petrochemical engineering and her unremitting pursuit of scientific and technological innovation.
Despite this, Sun Lili modestly said that she is just a "craftsman" who transforms scientific and technological achievements into green and efficient productivity, in short, "if you have good materials, I will have good skills".
