The leaders and guests who participated in the event had a discussion with social workers and volunteer representatives to understand the needs of medical social workers and further optimize the work of medical social workers in the hospital.

Launched by the Red Cross Foundation of China, the China Federation of Social Workers, and the Public Welfare Times in January 2024, the "Red Button Medical Social Work Program" is a concrete practice to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's exposition on grassroots governance and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and to adhere to and develop the "Fengqiao Experience" in the new era. The project promotes the better implementation of the "two-work" cooperation mechanism of "social workers leading volunteers to carry out services, and volunteers assisting social workers to improve services" by aiding the construction of "fraternity social work service stations" and training medical social work professionals, so that humanitarian assistance and humanitarian services can reach more people in need, help the development of the field of medical social work in mainland China, and contribute to the modernization of the social governance system and governance capacity.

In the next three years, the "Red Button Medical Social Worker Project" will help build 100 "Fraternity Social Worker Service Stations" in 100 hospitals, provide capacity building training for 1,000 medical social workers, support the dispatch or appointment of medical social workers to 300 hospitals to carry out humanitarian services in hospitals, and carry out public welfare activities such as "Looking for the Most Beautiful Medical Social Workers".
