In the "Seven Stars Formation" west of Avadiivka, there are two villages in the direction of the southern road, namely Severne and Tonenque.
These two settlements were originally intended to defend against attacks by Russian forces from the south, and Russian attacks on them were ineffective for a long time.
As a result, after Avadiivka changed hands, the Russian army suddenly attacked from the east, and it was difficult for the Ukrainian army to quickly organize an effective defense between the rout and chaos, so it lost the village of Xie in the east, leaving only the village of Tuo in the west.
The village of Toonenque, which is more than twice the size of Severne on its right, is separated by only about 400 metres, although they exist separately.
Moreover, the fortifications of this line were built as a whole, although they were mainly to cope with the offensive of the Russian army in the south, but the situation was much better than in the center.
It should also be noted that although the population of Tonenque Village is not large, it covers a large area, from the southeast side of the village to the northwest corner, it is 3 kilometers long.
After occupying Severne, the Russian army took advantage of the situation to attack Toonenke, and the troops participating in the battle were the 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade of the 1st Donetsk Army, as well as the 1453rd Motorized Infantry Regiment.
The Don army entered the village of Tonenque relatively smoothly, but encountered great resistance after entering the village.
The defenders of the Ukrainian army in this direction are mainly the 53rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and the 127th Territorial Brigade is also strengthened; because the Ukrainian defenders are more familiar with the local environment, and the 53rd Brigade has been criticized after the Battle of Acheng, the pressure of public opinion is not small, so the resistance is quite fierce.
Both sides even dispatched battalion-level mechanized formations to attack near the village of Tonenke, and although the Russian army achieved considerable results, it also suffered heavy losses in its own tanks and armored vehicles.
Against this background, the 35th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the 41st Army, which had been operating in the central direction, moved south to support, and finally captured the entire village of Tonenque on March 21.
After taking the whole village, the Russian army did not stop, but continued the pursuit, and strengthened the armored forces of the 90th Guards Tank Division.
Originally, it was just a matter of chasing two and creating a buffer zone to ensure the safety of the settlement, but the Russian army smashed the main force on this side, and in more than 10 days, it ate the entire field position of the Ukrainian army about 5 kilometers long and 3 to 4 kilometers wide.
You must know that this is actually no longer the category of the battle of the "Seven Star Array", but originally belonged to the next stage of the Russian army's operational direction.
As a result, the Russian army on the southern flank rushed like this, and it actually leveled the front of Pervomaisk (Wuyi Village) in the south, and also hit the periphery of Umansk, the key point in the depth of the Ukrainian army.
This is already much more than the originally expected results, and if it is linked with the direction of the south road, the Russian army will be able to form an overall offensive spearhead, and then attack the positions of the Ukrainian army on the west side, which has a very good synergistic effect.
