The Essence of Calligraphy - Shen Cangxing's Book "Five Songs of Thanksgiving"
Shen Cang (1379~1453), the word Minwang, the number Jian'an, Songjiang Mansion Huating (now Songjiang, Shanghai) people, Shen Du's brother, Shen Cang was recruited by Ming Chengzu, since the Hanlin edict, successively served as a scholar in the house, a waiter, the right concubine of the right Chunfang, the right Shaoqing of Dali Temple, and the official to the left Shaoqing of Dali Temple.
Shen Cang was 8 years old and passed the "Book of Filial Piety", "Analects" and "Mencius". Erudite and talented, like to carry the latter, high character, informal, tired of regular script in his later years, like to walk grass. His calligraphy is elegant and vigorous, and his name is important for a while. Among Shen Cang's many masterpieces, his "Emperor Wu of Liang's Cursive Script" is the most famous, the pen is strong and sharp, the turning point is sharp, and the grass is mixed with the grass throughout the chapter, but it is natural, attentive, free and unrestrained. Because of the rate of the chapter grass slapping the feet, the formation of the word is independent, rarely continuous, but the line is extremely flowing. Therefore, Wang Shizhen called him "the chapter law is especially fine, enough to be called Minan Palace".
This volume of "Poetry to Xiao'an", also known as "Five Songs of Thanksgiving", is composed of five poems in seven words, entitled "Duanxi Yan", "Longxiang Ink", "Golden Flower Paper", "Huang Feng Pen", "Beacon Mountain", collected by the Palace Museum. The work was written in the fifth year of Xuande (1430), the strokes are handsome and vigorous, consistent with the beautiful style of Shen Cang's cursive script, and integrated into the dignified and mellow style of "Taige style", with elegant and bright charm.
