author:Thoughtful client

On April 22, World Earth Day, in response to the national "dual carbon" strategy, ANTA launched the first carbon-neutral store certified by an authoritative organization in China's footwear and apparel industry, ANTAZERO ANTA 0 Carbon Mission Store. Located on Wukang Road in Shanghai, the store is located in a commercial gathering place that carries a century-old heritage and integrates cutting-edge innovative business formats, aiming to explore a sustainable business model with consumers and audiences concerned about low-carbon lifestyles through innovative retail spaces.

ANTA 0 Carbon Mission Store is an innovative retail format dedicated to achieving carbon reduction goals from product manufacturing to terminal operation. With the opening of the store, the strategic significance of the new ANTAZERO brand logo has attracted a lot of attention - starting from the green ANTA logo, it depicts a closed-loop trajectory approaching the O-shape, presenting the brand's sense of responsibility for the entire life cycle of "production-use-disposal-reuse" in the business cycle. Lai Shixian, Executive Director and Co-CEO of ANTA Group, has high hopes for the store, "The opening of ANTA's first zero-carbon mission store will not only bring ANTA's commitment to sustainable development from the backstage to the foreground, but also lead a new trend of sustainable sports lifestyle. ”

Rather than a regular store, the 450-square-metre multi-faceted space combines creative display, retail, community service and interactive experiences – where consumers can experience and purchase products made with eco-friendly materials, see art installations with sustainable concepts, read books about sustainability, and even participate in a product reinvention workshop.

Cui Dan, an expert in the field of sustainable fashion, was specially invited to serve as ANTA's sustainability project consultant and lead his team to plan and control the completion of the store under the "canU Sustainable Fashion" program. Creators from various fields such as architecture, fashion, and art have adopted "recycling" as the core method to reuse ANTA's discarded fabrics, production scraps and discarded packaging, and defective products into product display racks and home furnishings in the store, so that they can have both functional and aesthetic value.

At the same time, since the concept launch stage, ANTA 0 Carbon Mission Store has invited carbon management professional institutions to conduct detailed carbon footprint inventory and calculation of design plans, building materials and equipment, props and racks, etc., and promote the effective implementation of carbon reduction measures in each link. During the entire renovation and construction process, more than 30% emission reduction was achieved by using used clothes and spliced fabrics to build fences, retaining the original walls and floors, purchasing second-hand equipment, and reusing old air conditioning lamps. On the basis of carbon reduction measures, ANTA invited Bureau Veritas, an authoritative certification body, to carry out "carbon neutrality" certification for all aspects of this stage.

The store offers consumers a selection of products that meet ANTA's sustainability standards, including the latest products, the "Air Armor" jacket and the "Mach 4 Generation" running shoes, which have also been checked and calculated for carbon footprint and certified as carbon neutral. Taking "Air A" as an example, from the use of recycled materials at the design level to the massive use of clean energy in the production stage, this product has achieved an 11% emission reduction.

In the future operation of its stores, ANTA will take the concept of sustainability as its goal, continuously use sustainable operation methods, and repeatedly review and actively adjust its efforts to implement its firm commitment to the "zero carbon mission" and create a new model of green and environmentally friendly retail.

The "ANTA 0 Carbon Mission Store" is one of the brand's important exploration and innovation measures in the retail format, and also a new breakthrough in ANTA's sustainable strategy for the market. In 2021, ANTA Group established a complete closed-loop ESG management and established a Sustainability Committee, through which the Board of Directors oversees the assessment of ESG risks and opportunities to ensure that all brands, business units and functional departments implement their sustainability strategies. At the same time, ANTA has formulated a series of management systems and policies for suppliers to promote and improve the sustainable development practices and performance of its supply chain partners from multiple dimensions such as labor rights, health and safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development management systems. Driven by the two-way efforts from top to bottom up, ANTA has continuously achieved phased results in the process of implementing its sustainable development strategy and achieved outstanding improvement in sustainable development.

According to the latest ESG report released this year, in February 2024, ANTA Group received a "BBB" rating in the MSCI ESG ratings, rising two notches in one year, making the fastest progress and becoming the highest-rated company in China's sportswear industry. ANTA will continue to respond to the national "dual carbon" strategy, continuously promote technological innovation and the transformation of green technology, adhere to the long-term mission-driven, and move towards the value concept of better realizing "symbiotic value" with society and the environment.
