The father and son bought counterfeit high-end cigarettes of a certain brand at a low price from a place in Fujian, and then forged the tobacco code and sold them to merchants in many places in Hubei at the price of real cigarettes. Recently, the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Wuxue City Public Security Bureau and the Tobacco Monopoly Bureau successfully cracked the case of a father and son working together to sell high-end fake cigarettes to commit fraud.
In early April, the Wuxue City Tobacco Monopoly Bureau found in its work that the number of cigarettes of a certain brand in circulation in the market in Wuxue City District did not match the number issued by the Bureau, and it was suspected that someone was selling fake cigarettes.
After receiving the clues, the Wuxue Municipal Public Security Bureau immediately activated the coordination mechanism, requiring the police to quickly solve the case, severely crack down on tobacco-related illegal and criminal activities, and make every effort to optimize the market business environment.
The people's police handling the case quickly carried out control and investigation through methods such as checking clues and visiting and investigating. Successfully arrested Liu Moujian and Liu Moupeng from Shiyan, and seized 16 cigarettes of a certain brand on the spot. Surprisingly, the suspects in the counterfeit cigarette trafficking case turned out to be father and son.
After investigation, since September 2023, the criminal suspect Liu Moupeng purchased a certain brand of high-end cigarettes at a low price in Fujian Province, transported them to Shiyan through mail and logistics, and then traveled to Xiangyang, Yichang, Shiyan, Enshi, Huangshi, Huanggang and other places in Hubei Province with his father Liu Moujian and others, and falsely claimed that the source of the cigarettes was legal and traceable, resulting in damage to the property of retail merchants. At the time of the case, the father and son had committed more than 30 frauds through such acts, and the amount involved was more than 10 yuan.
At present, the criminal suspects Liu Moujian and Liu Moupeng have been criminally detained, and the case is still under further investigation.
