The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was the first battle in China's modern history to confront the Western powers head-on, and it is of great historical significance to the mainland.
The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea displayed national prestige and self-confidence, and the Chinese People's Volunteers won very big victories in the entire war. However, the situation of war is changing rapidly, and victory cannot always be on one side or the other. In the fifth battle, the 180th Division of the 60th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteers suffered a defeat on the battlefield, resulting in many comrades being captured.
What is surprising is that the defeat of the 180th Division not only alarmed the entire Volunteer Army, but also aroused the attention of the Kuomintang high-level. As things developed, the life story of a volunteer soldier gradually became known.
The father was Chiang Kai-shek's secretary, and the son was a volunteer soldier
His father, Lin Chunhua, was a graduate of the third phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, and was the director of a shorthand school in Guangdong, and was a national shorthand expert.
In 1924, Sun Yat-sen personally selected a group of capable secretaries for the first congress of the Kuomintang, including Lin Chunhua. After the conference, Lin Chunhua remained in the Nationalist government, where he served as secretary to Chiang Kai-shek from 1926 to 1934.

Because he was too young at the time, his father Lin Chunhua was not particularly impressed by Lin Mocong.
Lin Mocong only remembers that when he was a child, he went to school with his sister, and on the way, he often encountered some wandering soldiers of the Kuomintang army doing mischief on the street. One of the things his father told him and his sister the most was: "Go home after school, don't play in the street, you have to hide when you meet these soldiers, they are unreasonable......
At that time, Lin Mocong couldn't understand his father's worries, and he didn't care too much about it, until he saw with his own eyes the scene of the Kuomintang arresting strong men everywhere.
In 1946, Lin Chunhua died in Chengdu, leaving little inheritance to his family. Twelve-year-old Lin Mocong relied on his sister and mother for his life, and Kang Ze, who held a high-ranking position in the Kuomintang secret service, helped him pay for his middle school education.
After Lin Mocong went to middle school, the situation became even more chaotic, and the Kuomintang arrested strong men everywhere, and some of them were imprisoned on Lin Mocong's campus because they had nowhere to be held.
Most of these strong men are poor people, both old and young, so they cry every day. Lin Mocong was very scared in his heart, he observed these strong men, and found that there were students of the same age as him inside, which frightened him, and he didn't dare to run around after that.
One day, Lin Mocong was in class, and suddenly heard a gunshot outside, and the classroom was in chaos in an instant, and the students fled in all directions like frightened deer.
Lin Mocong also ran outside, only to see that the playground had become an execution ground, and the strong men who escaped were caught one by one and dragged to the playground and shot on the spot. Blood flowed all over the ground in an instant, and Lin Mocong stood on the bloody green space and only felt that his stomach was turning over and over.
This incident left a deep shadow on Lin Mocong, and since then, he has lost more and more confidence in the Kuomintang.
After graduating from middle school, Lin Mocong was anxious to stand on his own, refused the funding of his father's friend Kang Ze, and was admitted to Chengdu Mechanical College. After the liberation of Chengdu, Lin Mocong gradually got to know the People's Liberation Army, and saw the new relationship between the cadres and soldiers in the People's Liberation Army who were equal and harmonious, heart-to-heart, and the military and civilian families, and he felt that he had finally found a bright future.
After joining the army, Lin Mocong took the lead in everything and was not far behind. During the march, he carried more dry food, and carried all the extra grenades, 12 at a time, plus clothing, backpacks, musical instruments, and ammunition allocated to the team, all of which added up to more than his weight.
But Lin Mocong never felt bitter and tired, gritted his teeth and walked, never asked for any help during the 1,400-mile march, not only survived the hardships, but also exercised himself.

In 1951, Lin Mocong, who was only 17 years old, participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, which was the first time he went to the battlefield since joining the army. When he saw that North Korea was full of ruins and bloody gunsmoke, Lin Mocong truly realized the cruelty of war, and he hated the American invaders even more and was determined to do his best to defend his homeland and country.
Due to his young age and good at music, Lin Mocong was assigned to the propaganda team of the 540th Regiment of the 180th Division, and he tried his best to do a good job in propaganda work, and also composed a song in the first stage of the Fifth Campaign to inspire the confidence of the soldiers.
However, Lin Mocong never imagined that he would be captured at the end of the second stage.
At that time, when the 180th Division was on the task of covering, it resisted the attack of the enemy several times its own and well covered the transfer of the army headquarters and the corps headquarters, but when it finally dispersed and broke through, it was blocked and surrounded by the enemy.
Faced with an enemy several times larger than himself, many comrades were captured when they ran out of ammunition and food, and Lin Mocong was one of them.
Seeing the murderous enemy, Lin Mocong was actually not afraid. It's just that for a bloody soldier, being captured is the greatest insult to his soul, and he feels painful.
Refuse to recognize your identity and be a true patriot
In the prisoner of war camp, Lin Mocong witnessed the most vulnerable side of human beings, that is, when life and death are contested with dignity, most human beings will not hesitate to choose the former.
As soon as they entered the prisoner of war camp, the American soldiers came to a starvation test, and each person could not eat enough wheat rice balls for less than four taels a day, so selling rice balls became the source of all violence.
When US soldiers carried half a gasoline can't of rice into the barbed wire, it was not uncommon for a dispute or even a "brawl" to break out because of the lack of rice and the large number of people. The American soldiers stood just outside the barbed wire fence and watched as the people inside lost their dignity.
Some of the fighters who had come from the Kuomintang uprising in 1950 had limited feelings for the people's army because they had only been able to step from the old army to the new army for too short, so when the agents sent from Taiwan showed up in the prisoner of war camps, their reactionary tendencies became apparent.
They began to complain that there was no rescue after being surrounded, and regretted why they had joined the war in the first place. Later, these people did everything possible to flatter the Americans, brazenly acted as prisoners, brutalized other comrades, and forced them to engrave the words "anti-communist" on their backs.
Lin Mocong felt sad and humiliated by these people who had lost their dignity, and suffered tremendous physical and psychological suffering.
At this very moment, a group of Taiwan officials who had come from Taiwan to serve as instructors at the "CIE" school in the prisoner-of-war camp brought orders from Deng Wenyi, director of the Political Department of the Ministry of National Defense, saying that a young man under the age of 18 would be recruited from among the more than 20,000 Chinese volunteers who had been captured.
Hearing Deng Wenyi's name, Lin Mocong felt mixed feelings in his heart, because he knew that Deng was his father's best friend for decades, and he cared for him no less than his father. His mother once told him that when the full moon passed after he was born, Deng Wenyi put ten oceans on him.
This time, Deng Wenyi came to him, not only for political purposes, but also for the care of the orphans of his comrades-in-arms.
This is a great temptation, and if you admit your identity, you will surely be able to escape the misery of the captive camp immediately. However, the scene of the Kuomintang killing people in the school playground that year was still deeply etched in his mind, and he decided to give up his identity.
A few days later, Lin Mocong was called to the headquarters of the Second Brigade, and Bai Peiming, the captain of the brigade, asked him: "Taiwan wants to find Lin Chunhua's son, are you Lin Chunhua's descendant?"
Lin Mocong shook his head without hesitation.
Bai Peiming continued: "If you really are, quickly admit it, not only can you enjoy great blessings, but we can also be stained." Lin Mocong still shook his head.
Bai Peiming obviously refused to give up, and asked suspiciously: "He was born in Guangzhou, and Lin Chunhua is from Guangzhou?"
"I'm from Sichuan!" Lin Mocong denied.
In the end, Bai Peiming had no choice, waved his hand impatiently, and asked Lin Mocong to be escorted back to the prisoner of war camp.

After Lin Mocong resolutely denied that he was Lin Chunhua's son, he no longer tried to resist the tattoo, and he openly said to the captive officer who wanted to give him the tattoo: "I don't tattoo, I don't write blood letters, I don't go to Taiwan, if I want to beat you, I will beat you!"
After the first beating, Lin Mo Cong fainted in pain, and after experiencing countless beatings, Lin Mo Cong became numb, and seemed to no longer know what the pain was like. In this way, Lin Mocong withstood the beating, he felt that he was victorious, and the enemy did not beat him down, but made him stronger and stronger.
In the midst of the humiliation of the prisoner of war camp, Lin Mocong persevered for two years, and finally ushered in victory in 1953, and the prisoners of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army returned to the motherland in victory.
