IT Home reported on April 25 that according to the list recently published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Microsoft has obtained a new patent, showing a notification evaluation system called rAffinity, which can customize the content of notifications according to users' content participation on social platforms.
When a user follows someone on social media apps like Weibo, Instagram, X, and YouTube, they may receive a notification when the person they follow posts an update.
However, for users, these notifications may not really be of concern. Citing Microsoft's patent description, the rAffinity assessment system focuses on assessing the user's interaction with the person they follow (e.g. likes, comments, frequent views, etc.) before sending notifications to users.
The system also guides content creators to make content recommendations so they know which content has the most engagement.
