After Zhang Desheng's 50 acres of mountain forest was classified as a natural forest, as the state continued to increase its support for the protection of natural forests, the subsidies received increased year by year. The subsidy to benefit farmers has stimulated the initiative of forest farmers to protect forests, and the protection of natural forests has become a conscious action of the villagers - Zhang Desheng's family's original 5 acres of cultivated land have now been planted with cedar trees, which can not only make some extra money in the seedling business, but also add a touch of greenery to the village. Some of the "ecological red envelopes" he extracted this year were used to buy tree seedlings.

"The town forestry station allocates 'ecological red envelopes' to the village, and each village group uses the funds in hand for daily forest protection and afforestation, and the village-level rangers can receive an annual salary of about 8,000 yuan. Dai Qin, a village cadre, said that many villagers spontaneously assumed the responsibility of management and protection, and Jia Shunzhen, a villager in 18 groups, took over the "baton" in her husband's hand and became a group-level firefighter, patrolling the forest almost every day.
Xian'an District is a hilly area, with seven mountains, one water and two fields, and a vast area of natural forests. In order to protect precious natural resources and promote the green development of the whole region, in 2014, Xian'an demarcated 20,000 acres of natural forest protection demonstration area, with an annual subsidy of 50 yuan/mu, and deposited "principal" for development and "interest" for the future in the form of "ecological red envelopes", which is the first in the province.
Today, the area of the district-level natural forest demonstration area has increased to 50,000 mu, accounting for 17% of the natural forest area in the district, covering 13 township offices in the district. The protection fund has also increased from 1.6 million yuan in the district-level budget to 5 million yuan, and the compensation standard has been raised from 50 yuan per mu to 80 yuan per mu. Protecting the lucid waters and lush mountains can retain the gold and silver mountains, which has become the emotion of Xian'an forest farmers when they extract the "ecological red envelope".
