The reception for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Tunisia was held in Beijing on April 19, 2024, attended by Tunisian Ambassador to China Adil Arabi, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li, Vice President of the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Li Xikui, Director of the Tunisian National Tourism Bureau Hasin and other Chinese and foreign guests.
Tunisia and China have a long history of friendship, and Tunisia became a member of the Belt and Road Partnership in 2018, and projects in various fields between China and Tunisia have flourished under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Adil al-Arabi, ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to China, said in his speech that the good cooperation and strong friendship between the two countries over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations are worth commemorating and celebrating. The exchange of high-level visits and regular consultations between Tunisia and China indicates that the relations between the two countries have been developing steadily on the basis of mutual respect, solidarity and mutual assistance. This year, Tunisia will actively participate in the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and contribute to their success.
Li Xikui, vice president of the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said in his speech that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia 60 years ago, no matter how the international situation changes, the relations between the two countries have always developed healthily and steadily. Tunisia is not only an African friend of China for mutual benefit and common development, but also an Arab brother who helps China and shares weal and woe. China is willing to take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as a new starting point to renew the traditional friendship between China and Tunisia and promote new and greater development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Mr. Hermy Hasin, Director General of the Tunisian National Tourism Agency, said that Tunisia has rich tourism resources, with its excellent geographical location, mild climate throughout the year, top attractions, rich material and intangible culture, as well as a diverse heritage of monuments, unique and colorful dishes, delicious wines, diverse and unique handicrafts and more than 1,000 kilometers of beautiful beaches. The Tunisian government has implemented a visa-free entry policy for Chinese tourists to Tunisia, which is an important outbound tourism market in the world, and Tunisia hopes to become a well-known tourist destination in China.

As part of the cultural exchange, Tunisian mosaic craftsmanship will also be showcased at the event.
