Preface
The so-called freedom of speech in the United States is nothing but a big joke!
All along, the United States has often flaunted its own policy of "freedom of speech" and wantonly interfered in the internal affairs of other countries on this ground.
However, just recently, after student protests in major colleges and universities in the United States, the United States did not insist on the "freedom of speech" he preached, but sent heavily armed police to suppress the student protests and arrest students on a large scale.
Why, then, did American students carry out large-scale protests, and why did the United States violate its own principle of "freedom of speech" and wantonly arrest students?
The act of double standards
The student protests on American university campuses are actually related to the new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict that broke out on October 7 last year.
In this round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Israeli army's actions have brought extremely heavy harm to the Palestinian people, and these injuries have been transmitted to everyone in the world from social media and short video platforms.
The vast majority of the world, including the American people, are deeply sympathetic to the tragic situation of the Palestinian people and call on the international community to put an end to Israel's actions.
However, because Israel is an important ally of the United States, the United States has repeatedly "gone retrograde" with the international community on this major issue.
For example, in the UN Security Council's vote calling for a ceasefire between Palestine and Israel, the United States has repeatedly used its veto power to reject draft resolutions calling for a ceasefire and an end to hostilities, resulting in the Palestinian people always facing the cruel threat of war.
Not only that, but while rejecting the UN proposal, the United States has also wantonly provided Israel with all kinds of military aid, and this military aid has caused even more painful harm to the Palestinian people.
Comparison before and after the Israeli bombing
However, the unscrupulous support and assistance of the United States to Israel has brought extremely serious internal divisions in the United States.
This is because the United States often claims to be the "beacon of freedom" in the world, and its actions around the world are also aimed at helping ordinary people in other countries to avoid "oppression."
Because of the strong propaganda capability of the United States itself, a considerable number of people in the United States are convinced of this propaganda slogan, and therefore ordinary people in the United States are actually very sympathetic to the Palestinian people, who have been oppressed by Israel for many years.
Therefore, when the United States displayed a "double standard" approach in dealing with the Palestinian-Israeli issue and other international issues, it immediately aroused strong dissatisfaction in the United States......
Ongoing protests
Since the outbreak of the new round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, there have actually been many demonstrations in the United States.
However, the protests of the American people have not changed the US government's approach to supporting Israel, let alone halted the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, the conflict in the United States has intensified and become more extreme, such as in February this year, when a US military member set himself on fire in protest directly in front of the Israeli embassy in the United States.
As for students living on university campuses, because universities generally emphasize a free and open atmosphere, after the new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict, many American college students spontaneously staged protests on campus to show solidarity with the suffering Palestinian people.
Just this month, hundreds of faculty and staff members of Columbia University in the United States hoped to express their support for the Palestinian people through strikes and demonstrations.
However, the protests against the faculty and staff were strongly dissatisfied by some groups in the United States, and at their request, the American police entered the Columbia campus in full force and arrested a large number of protesters.
What these people did not expect, however, was that after teachers and students from other institutions learned about Columbia's situation, they began to demonstrate on a larger scale.
For a time, Yale University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and many other well-known American colleges and universities have appeared in related protests and demonstrations......
False freedom
The protests and demonstrations on the campuses of American universities have fully demonstrated the division brought about by the double standards pursued by the US Government in international relations over the years.
For the United States, "freedom of speech" is nothing more than a tool used to intervene in other regions in order to maintain its own global hegemony.
When dealing with countries that have bad relations with the United States, the United States usually tries to exaggerate some of the mistakes of these countries in terms of freedom of expression, and if there is no "violation of freedom of speech" in these countries, some American groups will also make up for nothing.
Because the American media has a very high voice in today's world, American propaganda will be accepted by ordinary Americans in many cases, and with the passage of time, "freedom of speech" has become a major value to be defended in the eyes of some American people.
However, the "values" they defended were torn off on the spot by the United States itself.
Since the outbreak of the new round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the tragic situation in the Palestinian Gaza region has been directly displayed in front of the people of all countries in the world.
However, due to the influence of the powerful Jewish plutocracy in the United States, the US official approach to the Palestinian-Israeli issue has been completely biased in favor of Israel.
In order to make the domestic people better accept the favoritism of the US officials, some US media also adopt an extremely double-standard approach when reporting on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
It's just that due to the popularity of short video and other platforms today, ordinary Americans can easily skip these media and learn the truth about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In the face of Israel's atrocities and the tragic situation of the Palestinian people, many Americans, including college students, are quite disappointed with the US government's support for Israel, and they hope to use the means of "freedom of speech" advocated by Americans to express their dissatisfaction.
However, it is a pity that when "freedom of speech" infringes on the vital interests of some forces in the United States, the halo flaunted by such an American is ruthlessly "torn off" by themselves.
