On April 24, on the eve of the opening of the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, a new generation of Prado, produced by FAW Toyota, was officially launched. The new model will be available in four models, with prices ranging from CNY 459,800 to CNY 549,800. It is reported that the new car is based on the new TNGA-F platform, providing two exterior styles to choose from, and adopts a non-load-bearing body design, as well as a new 2.4T+ electric motor composed of a petrol-electric hybrid (HEV) system, and will then compete with domestic Ford Bronco, Tank 700 Hi4-T and other models.

At the same time, the official also announced three pre-sale rights, namely the first 3,000 limited edition priority scheduling & delivery, the first 3,000 limited edition car emblems, and the priority right to participate in brand activities. In addition, the official also announced the pre-sale price of the modification kit, the pre-sale price of the exploration set is 15,000 yuan (6-piece set), the pre-sale price of the elite set is 12,500 yuan (4-piece set), and the pre-sale price of the MODELLISTA set is 8,200 yuan (5-piece set).

The all-new Toyota Prado is built on the same TNGA-F platform as the Lexus GX, and the vehicle styling is rugged and retro, with two front styling options. The core difference is the shape of the headlight clusters, one is a round headlight (1958 Classic) and the other is a rectangular headlight. The middle grille on the front face is also hard-core industrial style, and a large number of rectangular elements are used to highlight the sense of power.

The side of the body is also hard and square, with lines highly similar to the new Lexus GX, and it also adopts a stylish two-tone body, and is equipped with all-season tires, this design style will focus on comfort and luxury. The length, width and height of the new car are 4920mm/1980mm/1860mm (excluding the external spare tire), and the wheelbase is 2850mm.

The rear of the car is stocky and layered, and the square taillights on both sides still retain the original off-road taste. It is worth mentioning that although the tailgate is opened upwards, the rear windshield that can be opened independently, while the full-size spare wheel is suspended from the rear of the chassis. In addition, the approach angle of the new car is 31 degrees, the departure angle is 22 degrees, and the passing angle is 25 degrees, and the ground clearance can reach 221 mm.

In terms of interior, the new generation of Toyota Prado focuses on the original hard-core style, with the overall rugged off-road characteristics at a glance, and there is no excessive decoration in the details. The highlight is the half-spoke steering wheel, a 12.3-inch (8-inch touchscreen for the entry-level version) touchscreen in the center console, built-in Toyota's latest entertainment system, and off-road features such as T-Connect SD navigation system, next-generation Toyota Safety Sense system, creep mode, and hill descent.

In terms of equipment, the new generation Toyota Prado is equipped with seat heating/ventilation, steering wheel heating, wireless mobile phone interconnection, panoramic sunroof, 14 JBL brand speakers, three-zone air conditioning and other functions. In addition to the lowest-spec variant, the other variants are equipped with electric leather seats, while the high-spec variant is equipped with a power sunroof, electronic mirrors, MTM multi-terrain selector monitoring system, MTS multi-terrain optional driver assistance system, and head-up display, while the top-spec variant will also be equipped with an on-board refrigerator.

In terms of power, the all-new Toyota Prado is equipped with a petrol-electric hybrid (HEV) system consisting of a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor, mated to an 8-speed automatic manual transmission, and will also be equipped with full-time all-wheel drive, transfer case and central differential lock. The hybrid system has a combined maximum power of 243 kW (330 ps) and a maximum torque of 630 Nm. In addition, the new car will be equipped with an automatic limited-slip center lock, rear axle differential lock, and a variety of driving modes including mud, rock and sand.
