"What championship is it today?" "Hit the jackpot, no. 15."

In the "Crazy Crickets" live broadcast room, two crickets are divided into red and blue camps and placed in a transparent bucket to compete with each other. After the ponytail mane kept leading the fight, one cricket retreated in defeat, and the other one opened its wings and successfully won the championship.

At the same time that the results of the online championship were released, the wins and losses in the offline WeChat group were also settled. Group members who bet on crickets receive bonuses, but those who bet on the wrong ones lose their money.

Recently, the reporter learned from the Yijiang Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Wuhu City, Anhui Province, that the police successfully smashed a case of gambling with crickets under the guise of "meeting friends with insects" and using the network platform to live broadcast, and arrested two criminal suspects, involving nearly 500,000 yuan in gambling funds. At present, the criminal suspects have been approved for arrest by the procuratorial organs in accordance with the law.

Abnormal use of air conditioning has aroused suspicion among the police

In mid-February this year, the community police of the Yijiang Police Station of the Wuhu Municipal Public Security Bureau learned in their work that a large number of dead crickets would be discarded every few days in some public garbage cans in the jurisdiction, and dozens of them were every time. Dead crickets emit a foul odor that makes the surrounding neighbors miserable.

A few days later, the police received reports from the masses that some people in the jurisdiction were suspected of using crickets to carry out gambling.

After receiving the police, the police immediately carried out a visit and investigation. But there are so many residents in the community, where do these crickets come from?

"There is a family whose air conditioner electricity is abnormal and has attracted our attention." Yan Shaojun, deputy commander of the security patrol brigade of the Yijiang sub-bureau, said that at that time, the outdoor temperature in Wuhu was more than ten degrees Celsius, and under normal circumstances, the air conditioner could not be turned on, but the doors and windows were closed, and the air conditioner operated day and night, without stopping.

The police also found that there were many jars of crickets outside the balcony of this resident, and dead crickets appeared nearby. The police also visited the surrounding households and learned that the sound of crickets in the family at night rose and fell, and all kinds of signs were in line with the characteristics of crickets.

"It is not reasonable for crickets to be sold in residential buildings." Yan Shaojun told reporters that after further investigation, the police have grasped that the people entering and leaving the house have previously committed economic crimes, and with the sound of shouting and shouting from time to time in the house, the police preliminarily judged that it is likely to use fighting crickets to gamble.

Since there must be casinos suspected of gambling, where exactly are the casinos opened?

According to the police handling the case, because the residents of the household rarely go out, the clamor for suspected gambling is from the electronic device, so the location of the casino is most likely on the network live broadcast platform. The police then entered the major network platforms to search one by one, focus on investigation, and finally locked in a live broadcast platform called "Crazy Crickets" anchor.

In order not to fight grass and snakes, the police went undercover in the live broadcast room, interacted with the anchor Wang, and after more than half a month of work, finally gained Wang's trust and found out the rules and methods of crime committed by the internal personnel of the gang.

"The live broadcast platform is formal, but Wang's live broadcast has another mystery." Yan Shaojun said that every day, Wang selected 16 crickets from the breeding, numbered them separately, and posted the video display of each cricket in the WeChat group for the reference and betting of the group personnel. Every night, Wang mou broadcast live the battle of the 16 crickets selected on the day, decided the top few, and then paid the gamblers who had bet on the previous bet according to the predetermined odds, and if there was no bet, all of them were pocketed by the anchor.

The reporter learned that the live broadcast at night is called the "Worm King Championship", and there are detailed rules for selecting insects. There are 16 crickets participating in the competition each time, and the participants in the gambling have to pay an entry fee of 50 yuan per cricket. Crickets are auctioned on time at 7:30 p.m. every night, and each auction lasts one minute. Each person can buy a maximum of 3 shares, one share is 50 yuan, and 24 shares are capped. Gambling funds are collected by WeChat or Alipay transfer.

After the auction is completed, the card is issued with insects and the cricket fight is broadcast live. 16 crickets made the top 4. Corresponding to the first, second, third and fourth prizes, the prize money per share is 300 yuan, 150 yuan, 60 yuan and 50 yuan respectively.

"Every night, the WeChat group and the live broadcast room are very lively, and the bet is about 15,000 yuan." Yan Shaojun said.

Under the banner of "worm friends", we will screen the gambling group friends

Seeing that the time was ripe to collect the network, on the evening of March 25, the Yijiang police resolutely attacked and arrested the criminal suspects Wang Mou and Yuan Mou in the residential building, seizing hundreds of crickets and a set of network live broadcast equipment at the scene.

The reporter saw from the on-site arrest video that when the police entered the house, Wang was broadcasting the "Worm King Championship" network live broadcast. In the center of the live broadcast station, there is an oval transparent bucket basin, and under the illumination of two headlights, two crickets fight in the basin. Outside the bucket, on the left and right sides, the number plates of "contestants" were erected, and Wang Mou sat at the table to lead the crickets and explain the game. As the police took Wang into control, the live broadcast was interrupted, and the two crickets also stopped biting and lay motionless on both sides of the bucket.

After preliminary investigation, Wang once sold crickets online, but the sales volume was not optimistic. Since August last year, Wang has entered the live broadcast platform and become a cricket anchor, attracting hundreds of fans for a time. Wang saw that there was a market for fighting crickets, so in the name of "worm friends", he screened people with the willingness to bet and gamble among fans, pulled them into the WeChat exchange group of "micro-pat hall insect friends exchange" established by himself, and recruited Yuan as an assistant. Before long, the WeChat group grew to more than 400 people.

"Wang and Yuan knew each other before, and both had previous convictions. Wang Claimed that he had lost money in business before and had more debts, so he wanted to make money by fighting crickets and gambling. Yan Shaojun said that they would throw some cricket fighting topics in the group and let the group friends spend some money to play, but in the live broadcast room, they did not mention gambling to prevent the horse's feet from being exposed.

At present, Wang Mou and Yuan Mou have been approved by the procuratorate to arrest according to law, and the gambling funds involved in the case are nearly 500,000 yuan. The illegal profits of the two are pending further accounting, and the case is being further investigated.
