April 23, 2024 is the 75th birthday of the People's Navy, and after 75 years of spring and autumn, the Chinese Navy has jumped to the first place in Asia and the second in the world in terms of overall strength, second only to the US Navy in the world. This is a very good news worth celebrating. I believe that every Chinese will feel extremely excited and proud after learning such news.
In terms of aircraft carrier strength, the Chinese Navy has two 60,000-ton large aircraft carriers in active service, namely the "Liaoning" aircraft carrier, which was modified from the "Varyag" aircraft carrier during the Soviet era, and the "Shandong" aircraft carrier, which was built on this basis. In addition, the construction of the newly-developed electromagnetic catapult-type aircraft carrier of our army, which is also the largest, strongest, and most advanced aircraft carrier of our army, is also in full swing, and this large aircraft carrier of "more than 80,000 tons" will also be the largest naval ship in the history of the navies of various Asian countries after it is completed, and it will be the "largest giant ship in Asia" worthy of the name, and our navy will undoubtedly become the second largest aircraft carrier navy in the world.
In terms of large amphibious ships, our army has a power of amphibious combat ships second only to that of the US Marine Corps. Including 4 Type 075 amphibious ships that have been launched and put into service and 8 Type 071 dock landing ships, the total tonnage of these amphibious ships alone has exceeded 300,000 tons, which is enough to launch large-scale cross-sea amphibious operations!
In terms of surface combat ships, our army has eight Type 055 destroyers, one of the most advanced destroyers in the world, and 25 powerful Type 052D destroyers, plus the four "Modern class" introduced from Russia and the early 052C, 112, 113, 167 and other destroyers, the total number of destroyers in our army has reached 50, and it is still growing rapidly, and a number of brand-new 055 and 052D have been confirmed on the slipway! In addition, it is worth mentioning that our navy also has the largest frigate fleet in the world, with a total of 100 frigates, including more than 40 054A series and more than 50 056A!
On the whole, according to the latest data, the overall tonnage of our navy is 2.9 million tons, second only to the US Navy's 5.7 million tons in the world! It is truly the strongest navy in Asia! And our navy is already one step away from the goal of a "big navy" -- a displacement of 3 million tons, and will soon become the third navy to achieve this goal after the US Navy and the Soviet Navy during the Cold War.
In contrast, the total tonnage of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, which ranks second in Asia, is only about 700,000 tons, and the Indian Navy, which ranks third, is about 500,000 tons. However, we should see that the US Navy, which is the world's largest navy, has a total of nearly 400 ships with a total tonnage of more than 5.7 million tons, including 316 combat ships with a displacement of about 3.7 million tons, and 81 auxiliary ships (such as supply ships and hospital ships) with a total tonnage of more than 2.05 million tons. It can be seen from this that although our navy has made tremendous achievements in construction, there is still a big gap between it and the US navy. The long road to the sea and the deep blue may have just begun!
