Guangzhou, 23 Apr (Jiefangjun Bao) -- Over the past few days, officers and men of the task force of the Southern Theater have continued to fight on the front line of flood fighting, emergency rescue, and disaster relief, and have gone all out to ensure the safety of the people's lives and property.

Affected by heavy rainfall, some roads in Jiangwan Town, Wujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province have been interrupted and traffic has been blocked, and communications and power have not been fully restored in some areas, affecting the production and life of the masses. On the 22nd, after the officers and men of the ground detachment of a brigade of the 74th Group Army arrived at the disaster-stricken area, they immediately carried out the work of setting up communications, studying and judging meteorology, and conducting on-the-spot surveys, so as to grasp the disaster situation in a timely manner and quickly carry out rescue work.

On the 23rd, more than 300 officers and soldiers of a brigade of the 74th Group Army continued to fight on the front line of emergency rescue and disaster relief, undertaking tasks such as clearing roads, cleaning up silt, carrying materials, and assisting in transporting the wounded. At present, the officers and men of the brigade have rushed to open the road from Longgui Town to Jiangwan Town. Officers and men of a certain unit of the Rocket Force cleared five road collapse points, cleared 5 kilometers of roads, and inspected more than 10 kilometers of roads on foot.

After receiving the task, a certain unit of the joint logistics support unit dispatched officers and men in accordance with the emergency plan and dispatched five wheeled pieces of equipment to the disaster-stricken area. When they arrived at the mission area, the officers and men quickly set up field refueling stations and emergency power supply stations to provide support for rescue vehicles and the local people.

The officers and men of the Shaoguan Detachment of the Armed Police Force are mainly responsible for the tasks of dredging roads, cooperating with local authorities in repairing communication lines, and assisting in the transfer of materials. Up to now, the detachment has delivered more than 10 batches of materials to ensure the basic living needs of the affected people. At the same time, officers and men carry out epidemic prevention and sanitization of the resettlement points and material storage points of the disaster-stricken masses every day.

The Guangdong Provincial Military Region dispatched more than 500 officers and soldiers and militia to Shaoguan, Foshan, Qingyuan, and other disaster-stricken areas to carry out the work of dredging and obstacle removal, emergency repair of power supply and communication facilities, plugging pipe surges, and investigating the disaster situation, transferring more than 400 people, blocking 2 pipe surges, clearing more than 800 cubic meters of silt, and dredging more than 10 kilometers of roads.

In the next step, the task force will continue to fight on the front line of flood control and help the masses restore order in production and life as soon as possible.
