On 23 April, the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) – the "Entrepreneurs' Conference" (hereinafter referred to as the "Entrepreneurs' Conference") was held in Macao.
The Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Lei Wai Nong, attended the event and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Su Kun, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Co-operation Zone, attended the forum, and a delegation of enterprises from the Co-operation Zone led by the Director of the Economic Development Bureau, Mr Lee Chi-wai, attended the forum to have in-depth exchanges and discuss cooperation with enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries.

The 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) is themed "Promoting the New Trend of Digital Transformation and Sharing New Opportunities for Green Development", with the aim of helping enterprises explore larger international markets and find more resources for cooperation.
The "Entrepreneurs' Conference" was held for the first time in the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform Complex between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, and the number of participants increased by more than 40% compared to 2016, highlighting the recognition and affirmation of Macao's role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

At this session, the enterprise delegation of the In-depth Cooperation Zone participated in the "Entrepreneur Conference" for the first time, which became one of the highlights of attention from all walks of life.
In the early stage, the Co-operation Zone has been intensively carrying out relevant preparatory work, mobilizing enterprises in the Co-operation Zone to actively participate according to the needs of industry matching, and received positive responses from more than 40 enterprise representatives, covering the Internet, cross-border e-commerce, supply chain trade, healthcare, high-end medical care, pharmaceutical import and export, and financial businesses.
Li Weinong said that the "Entrepreneurs' Conference" is an important event during the Ministerial Conference of Forum Macao, and he hoped that elites from all parties would share their insights, explore new models of cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, promote the continuous optimization and upgrading of industrial and supply chains through scientific and technological innovation, and contribute to the high-quality development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Macao's efforts to promote the development of the "1+4" industry will provide more development opportunities for Chinese and Portuguese-speaking enterprises, and since the beginning of this year, the construction of the In-depth Cooperation Zone has been further accelerated, which will create more favorable conditions for the development of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries International Trade Centre in the In-depth Cooperation Zone, and the new model of Macao-Qinqin linkage development of "Macao platform + international resources + Hengqin space + achievement sharing" will also be further revealed.

The representative of Sany Group Co., Ltd., who participated in the conference, said that the meeting was fruitful and expressed his intention to cooperate with many representatives of enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries, and believed that this exchange would help further expand the space for two-way cooperation with enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries. It is hoped that by leveraging the platform of Macao, it will expand its overseas markets and brand awareness, open up the market of Portuguese-speaking countries, and at the same time actively contribute to the moderate diversification of Macao's industries by relying on industrial resources.
Representatives of enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries expressed their concern for the business environment of the Co-operation Zone, especially the preferential policies for enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries, and expressed their intention to visit the Co-operation Zone to explore investment opportunities.

A few days ago, the Co-operation Zone (← click on the underline to understand) has launched a total of 25 support measures in six chapters from four aspects: tax incentives, support for the development of foreign-invested technology enterprises in Portuguese-speaking countries, support for exchanges and cooperation, and support for platform construction, giving all-round, full-chain and large-scale policy support.

The policy aims to implement the deployment requirements of the Master Plan for the Development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, support Macao in further expanding its functions as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, promote the effective operation of the Centre for Science and Technology Exchange and Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, attract science and technology enterprises from Portuguese-speaking countries to invest in Hengqin, promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and contribute to the moderate diversification of Macao's economy.

It is worth noting that the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), held on 22 July, announced 20 measures taken by the Chinese government to promote economic and trade co-operation with Portuguese-speaking countries from 2024 to 2027, with a view to bringing economic and trade co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries to a new level, among which the Hengqin In-depth Cooperation Zone was mentioned for the first time.
