On April 24, the Digital Reading Forum of the 3rd National Reading Conference and the 10th Annual Conference of Digital Reading were held, where industry insiders, experts and scholars gathered together to discuss the high-quality development trend of digital reading.
Sun Shoushan, chairman of the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association, said that digital reading is becoming the mainstream direction of reading culture with an unstoppable trend, and it is necessary to make more and better digital reading content and forms become a way of daily life for the people. The digital reading industry should use the basic theory of new quality productivity to guide the high-quality development of the mainland's digital reading industry, and better play the role of new quality productivity factors in the high-quality development of national reading and the construction of a scholarly China in combination with the characteristics and trends of the development of digital reading in the mainland.
The "2023 China Digital Reading Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was released at the meeting, summarizing the changes and challenges in China's digital reading field in the past year. According to estimates, the number of digital reading users in mainland China will be 570 million in 2023, with a growth rate of 7.53%. The report points out that the high-quality content of the digital reading industry in mainland China is showing a trend of diversified development, technology and scenario innovation continues, the digital reading user group is steadily expanding, and the construction of the entire IP ecosystem has been continuously improved. In the future, the digital reading industry needs to pay more attention to the construction of high-quality content, continue to strengthen the construction of autonomy mechanism, and improve the talent introduction and education system related to "going out".
In the keynote speech session, representatives of digital reading enterprises, experts and scholars shared their practices and thoughts on the new form of digital reading. Among them, Fang Qing, Dean of the Publishing Research Institute of Wuhan University, shared the topic of intelligent reading for teenagers. He believes that the way of reading for teenagers has gone through three stages: from teacher or parent companion reading, to business companion reading, and then to intelligent (AI) companion reading. The emergence of intelligent companion reading has changed the content, way and experience of teenagers' reading. When talking about the development direction of intelligent companion reading, Fang Qing said: "There are pros and cons of intelligent companion reading, and only legislation can ensure its healthy development. ”
"Barrier-free reading and barrier-free communication is an important part of national reading, and we hope that in the future, we can serve the barrier-free reading population through intelligent companion reading" "The addition of AI models can not only deepen children's understanding of the reading text itself, but also allow them to think about their own reading behavior and reading habits"...... The forum held a roundtable discussion on the topic of "Application and Innovation of AIGC in the Digital Reading Industry", and experts and scholars carried out wisdom collision and exchange from the fields of barrier-free reading, children's reading, reading efficiency, and the application of online literary works in the fields of film and television adaptation.
The forum also held the launch ceremony of the initiative of "Digital Intelligence Empowering Integrated Publishing, Innovation Helps National Reading", and 11 publishing units launched a joint initiative to serve the promotion of national reading for the first time in the industry on the integrated development of digital publishing and physical publishing, resource aggregation, and digital intelligence empowerment.
