The 77th World Health Assembly will be held on 27 May in Geneva, Switzerland. As expected, this year, the United States and the West have seized the opportunity to manipulate Taiwan-related issues.
Earlier, the G7 issued a joint statement reaffirming the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait region and supporting Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly and the World Health Organization's technical meetings. With the support of the United States and the West, the Taiwan authorities have become emboldened again.
Taiwan's "Minister of Health and Welfare" Xue Ruiyuan said on the 24th that he will continue to send a delegation to Geneva this year to carry out medical and health exchanges, and the new "Minister of Health and Welfare" Qiu Taiyuan will lead the "bilateral talks" with relevant countries. However, Xue Ruiyuan also admitted that their application was "not read" by the WHO, and so far they have not received an invitation letter.

In this regard, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, responded with four words: self-inflicted humiliation. In the final analysis, this kind of behavior of the DPP authorities is essentially called "rubbing the meeting", and it has not been invited and supported by the organizers, and it has also made contact with some countries.
The island has applied year after year, and has been "slapped in the face" again and again, and showing his face has become a reality. As for the reason, it is that the DPP authorities stubbornly adhere to the separatist stance of "Taiwan independence" and refuse to recognize the '92 consensus, resulting in the political basis for participating in the WHA no longer exists.
China's attitude is consistent, and the Taiwan region must act in accordance with the "one-China" principle if it wants to participate in the meeting. In fact, since 2017, Taiwan has been disqualified from participating in the World Health Assembly for seven consecutive years, and it is not surprising that this year will be the same.

First, China is the second largest "financier" of the WHO, and Tedros does not dare to be careless on this sensitive issue of the one-China red line. More importantly, the WHO is only a subsidiary agency of the United Nations and needs to comply with the relevant regulations of the United Nations.
In accordance with the provisions of UN Resolution 2758, there is no so-called "one China, one Taiwan" issue of restoring all the rights of the People's Republic of China and immediately expelling the illegal representatives of the Taiwan side.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres also solemnly affirmed that he adheres to the one-China principle. During his visit to China earlier this year, the President of the UN General Assembly also reaffirmed in the presence of the Chinese side that the United Nations will always uphold the one-China principle and will not deviate in any way. No matter what tricks the Taiwan authorities play, it is impossible for them to deviate from the one-China principle and participate in the WHA.

Second, if the Taiwan authorities want to participate in the meeting, they need to have the support of at least 98 member states, and the DPP obviously cannot get 99 "yes votes." On the one hand, there are only 12 so-called "countries with diplomatic relations" with the Taiwan authorities, and it is only a matter of time before they are handed over bald.
On the other hand, the G7 shouted that it supported the participation of the DPP authorities, but it only paid lip service to it, and it was impossible for it to really vote for it in the end.
To sum up, the Taiwan authorities are the "marionettes" in the hands of the West, and their failure is doomed.
World Health Assembly
Finally, as the biggest supporter of "Taiwan independence," the United States has created a much weaker international momentum this year than in the past. In previous years, not only did the US Congress pass the so-called "Taiwan Support Act," but US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also traveled around the world to shout for the Taiwan authorities.
However, recently, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict have exhausted the United States, and the US Congress has been tugging for several months before it has been difficult to pass a military aid to Ukraine. Against this backdrop, the Biden administration is seeking help from China in the hope of easing the burden, and Blinken himself is visiting China.
Correspondingly, this year's World Health Assembly has also become much quieter. The Chinese side has drawn a red line in advance and urged the US side to put into action its statement that it does not support "Taiwan independence". If Blinken wants to make a fruitful visit to China, not making noise at the World Health Assembly is the first task to complete.
